Make a Wish Come True on May 11th
email this pageprint this pageemail usPVNN

Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions. To celebrate the foundation's 26th anniversary, Daiquiri Dick's is hosting a special three-course dinner with wine on May 11th.
From its humble beginnings in 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon, reaching more than 144,000 children with life-threatening medical conditions through its worldwide wish-granting work.

The joy of bringing a smile to a dying child's face and a twinkle to their eyes in the midst of suffering is Make a Wish's goal, and here in Puerto Vallarta, local residents and businesses alike have taken the Make a Wish Foundation to heart.

To celebrate the International Make a Wish Foundation's 26th anniversary, and to raise funds to fulfill the wishes of terminally ill children here in Mexico, the Puerto Vallarta chapter of Make a Wish and Daiquiri Dick's Restaurant will be hosting a special three-course dinner with wine on May 11th.

The Puerto Vallarta Chapter of Make a Wish was formed by New Mexico's former Make a Wish Foundation Vice President, Bob Mandel, who set up Mexico's corporate headquarters right here in Puerto Vallarta in November of 2000.

Since that time, the Puerto Vallarta Chapter of Make-a-Wish has been granting more than one wish a month to children with life threatening diseases through charitable contributions and fund raising events such as this.

Daiquiri Dick's owners Peter and Tari Bowman have been nourishing Puerto Vallarta for over 25 years, and this event promises a fun-filled evening of fabulous food and cocktails in the casual elegance of their beachside restaurant for just $550 pesos per person.

At the fund-raising dinner on May 11th, Make a Wish will be introducing their new mascot, a soft and cuddly lamb named Chu, which you can buy for yourself or someone you love for just $200 pesos. A percentage of all proceeds from the event will go toward fulfilling some of the outstanding wishes of 25 very sick kids here in Mexico.

Helping to fulfill the wish of a child is an extremely powerful and gratifying experience, and you can help make some wishes come true at Daiquiri Dick's on May 11th. For more information or to buy your tickets, call (322) 222-9111 or 01-800-337-3671.

MAWFI is a non-profit and tax deductible foundation, whose objective is to grant wishes to children with life threatening diseases who are not expected to reach the age of 18. If you would like to be a volunteer, make a much needed donation or refer a child for a wish, please contact Bob Mandel at info@makeawishmexico.org.
