Charity Bingo July 5 Celebration - Cha-Ching!
email this pageprint this pageemail usJOY! - PVNN

Fabulous by any name the magnificent group Metamorsa, formally Los Bambinos, gave a brilliant performance, starting the night off right for us.
More than 100 people squeezed in to the Lazy Lizard to raise $11,912 pesos at the charity bingo for R.I.S.E. this week. It would have been more but we ran out of tables, chairs and bingo cards!

There were so many people we had a quadruple bingo at one point, and three Lazy Lizard L's, one of which was won by Polly and Hubert Vicars, who were celebrating 56 years of marriage. FIFTY SIX! When asked the secret Polly grinned and simply said "Find you a good one!" All I can say is Hubert must be a darn good one to last over five and a half decades.

Lazy Lizard Bingo is officially the best thing going on a Thursday in Vallarta... OK, it's also the ONLY thing going on a Thursday in low season, but hey, where else can you go at ANY time for first rate entertainment, and a nice dinner with friends, drinking two-for-one whatevers on the beach at sunset while winning awesome prizes?

Fun for the whole family, Lazy Lizard Bingo is officially the best thing going on a Thursday in Vallarta...

One the three Lazy Lizard L's was won by Metamorsa's #1 fans, Polly and Hubert Vicars, who were celebrating 56 years of marriage.

Tom and Alex wouldn't miss it for the world, they live like kings with the Lazy Lizard Bingo prizes they've won!

Mickey is thrilled about winning dinner at La Palapa, a bottle of wine, discounts and freebies galore.

The watermelon eating competition was won by Julie, who was fed by Cameron's Mum.

Grant wons the watermelon seed spitting contest by a country mile.

Hostess Debbi with costume contest winners. Oliver the dog took first place, winning jewelery from Gem Casa and Julie took second place, winning a spa set from Ohh La La Boutique.
Tom and Alex wouldn't miss it for the world, the prizes they have won over the last couple of weeks include a fabulous dinner for two at Casa Naranjo, where they were treated like kings and had whatever they wanted from the very extensive menu; a hair cut from Len at Blu; shampoo and other hair care products; two free breakfasts at Andales; a manicure and pedicure; lovely silver jewelry; two-for-one drinks at Garbos, smoothies at Choco Banana, and dinner at Mama Dolores; swimming lessons; 15% discount at Picnic and my e-book, No Worries, Mate! which contains the de-worrying process enabling them to eliminate all worry at its source. Not bad for a $60 peso investment that goes to support underprivileged kiddies.

Fabulous by any name the magnificent group Metamorsa, formally Los Bambinos, gave a brilliant performance, starting the night off right for us. Fireworks ended it, and all kinds of fun was sprinkled in the two hours between these grand events.

It was the July 5th: America brings Independence to R.I.S.E. party so there were hotdogs and hamburgers, potato salad and American flags. We had a watermelon eating competition won by Julie, who was fed by Cameron's Mum, followed by a watermelon seed spitting competition won by Grant. They each received $100 peso gift certificates from The Deli.

Oliver the dog, sporting a stars and stripes bandana, won the costume competition, and the gorgeous amber earring and necklace set valued at $100 USD from Gem Casa. Julie in her Hawaiian outfit took second place winning a spa set from Ohh La La Boutique.

Debbi from Choco Banana, our hostess and bingo caller for the evening, got a little carried away by the plethora of prizes that had been donated by generous local businesses and started giving out free breakfasts at Memo's and spa certificates for the first person to bring things like hotel keys and Chrysler car keys to her. She gave them back - or at least I think she did...

XocoDiva Goddesses Charlotte and Carol introduced a Canadian game called 50/50. You pay to put in the pot, the charity gets half and the winner gets the other half. Tim won, and donated his winnings back to R.I.S.E. giving the kids $2020 pesos to keep them fed and happy. Goodonya Tim!

Goodonya Charlotte and Carol, next week in addition to bringing the 50/50 game they will be donating 200 chocolates, which Mama Dolores will be selling for $10 pesos apiece, now THERE's a deal, they normally cost $15 pesos each! All proceeds will be given to R.I.S.E. of course.

This week's charity hero was the very talented Steve Fischer, who donated some truly extraordinary art work. Grant (Mama Dolores's er, alter ego) whipped up a nice little bidding war over the major piece worth $1000 USD. Don outbid everyone and scored this fine piece of original art for $550 USD, of which R.I.S.E. got half. Two other lovely paintings went for $60 and $75 USD respectively with Steve generously donating half to the kids.

Michael reckons that having magic butterfly wings brushed up against him helped him win the final black-out game with another gorgeous piece of art, the Los Veranos Canopy Tour, and all the minor prizes including a nice picture frame from Encore and a gift certificate from PV Café.

The good news is: Hundreds of people are enjoying Thursday night out at the Lazy Lizard, having a ball watching great entertainment, having a laugh and dinner and drinks with their friends for a ridiculously low price, all for a good cause.

Dozens of bingo winners are living it up all 'round town, eating and drinking for free, or getting huge discounts from local restaurants and bars, looking and feeling fabulous thanks to all the amazingly high quality goods and services they have won.

Over at the orphanage, the nuns are turning cartwheels - more than $27,000 pesos have been raised in just four nights at Lazy Lizard!

The bad news is: We will only be doing this until the end of July. I am going to San Diego to do a workshop tour at the beginning of August and Lazy Lizard is closing for the summer months. So you only have three more weeks to come play.

Next week, Roberto from the Botanical Gardens, voted Vallarta's hunkiest bloke, will be doing his presentation. When I asked for details, this is what he sent me: "Len did his beauty intervention, I will do my Inner-beauty intervention mixed with fun nature facts and mind set bingo-lingo for world peace, plus bingo cundalini charkra balancing and tantric bingo masturbation for couples and singles. Plus maybe a sing-a-long or two. Anyway, I'll do the best I can. I know I'm at least as entertaining as Mama D without having to put on a wig..."

Never a dull moment at Lazy Lizard Charity Bingo Night! The food is great, the drinks are cheap, the entertainment is the best in town, and it's all for a really good cause. Join us next Thursday from 7 till 9 pm at Lazy Lizard, on the beach next to La Palapa. See you there!

Tim won the 50/50 game, but instead of splitting the pot with the charity, he donated his half back, so the kids got it all!

This week's charity hero was the very talented Steve Fischer, who donated some truly extraordinary art work.

Don outbid everyone and scored this fine piece of original art for $550 USD, of which R.I.S.E. got half.

My magic butterfly wings helped Mike win the final game
