A new series of five tango classes, beginning and continuing, begins on Monday May 19th at J&B Dancing Club, Francisco M. Ascensio 2043. Call Al and Barbara Gavey at 222-8895 or email alybarbara(at)yahoo.com for information.

Absolutely go to Teatrolimon Restaurante (Cjon Del Limon 1, Palmar de Aramara, Tel: 322-225-2606.) The night we were there, the food was some of the best I have tasted - truly in the world! A group of us got a head start on Restaurant Week during May. What fun!

For starters, we shared a mesculin of fresh greens with chipotle stewed roma tomatoes and Jerusalem artichokes with a double balsamic brule and smoked tomato and mozarella with a blackberry tarragon coulis.

Still on starters, we then turned to pork and mango terrine with a maple and citrus glaze, and Teatro crabcakes with bacon dust and citrus glaze. Bruce enlisted some of the men at our table to help him in his open kitchen with the pork and mango terrine. Bruce, with humor, complained that the men were just too darn slow! Then on to Bar Harbor stuffed crab with a citrus beurre blanc sauce.

Then we turned to main course dishes. I got to observe up close the preparation of butterflied shrimp with lemon, dill and garlic with lots and lots of cream, then filet medallions were served with herb-roasted baby potatoes and grilled veggies. And yes, a dessert of white cake, fruit and sauce topped with chocolate-covered dried cranberries. An extraordinary night of food and fun!

A big event next Sunday, May 25th at 6 pm, is the Altruism Festival at Marriott CasaMagna Resort in Marina Vallarta. Tickets are $300 pesos from your favorite charity or $400 pesos at the door. Lots of food, entertainment and help for local charities.

Katmandu (Don and Rhonda and group) perform on Friday, May 23rd, at 8 pm at Cafe des Artistes del Mar, Punta de Mita. Call (322) 222-3228 for reservations.

A gathering at Banana Cantina restaurant for donations to two libraries went well, to the public Biblioteca los Mangos here and Sally Conley's children's library in El Pitillal. Debbi Egan of Banana Cantina is so gracious, hosting various fund raisers.

So many comments about how much local attorney Marie O'Connor looked like "Liz" at the Casa Kimberly fund raiser for the SPCA (animal care.) Click HERE for more details about The Last Party at Casa Kimberly and to view "Liz" and other partiers as the "rich and famous" or as hippies of the '60's.

The Sleepless in Seattle film houseboat part-time Vallarta resident and author Jeri Callahan wrote about in her book on houseboats, Staying Afloat, is for sale in Seattle for about $2.5 million, as I recall. Jeri lives nearby on her houseboat and says her place is much, much smaller. For information, you can reach Jeri, who also leads houseboat tours, at jeri(at)discoverhouseboating.com.
