If you want to know what's going on here in Vallarta and around Banderas Bay, be sure to read this week's edition of Out and About in Puerto Vallarta. (Promovision)

Dear friends are arriving back for the season. We had a delightful time with Ernie and Darla Fowler, Bob and Linda Trapp, and Jerry and Sue Nunley. Jerry and Sue are Alaskans who met years ago over their respective airplanes. They live near Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin's hometown.

I received several emails commenting on a person's email that went astray, ending up in many mailboxes around town, intended or not. Someone pointed out to be careful when you hit that "send" button. Wish that email had been more juicy!

The Palm, Olas Altas 500, has new owners - Ron White and Phil Siegman. It is a lively beautifully-decorated night spot. For information, call Ron at cell 322-143-5687.

As of this writing, the town seems more under control from organized crime with state law enforcement authorities assisting local authorities.

Jimmy Vanderschuur has been volunteering in African countries building houses, schools, hospitals, whatever needed.

The Vallarta Breakfast Club for networking, especially this time of year for greeting old and new friends, meets for the first time this season on Friday, November 7, at 10 am at the Lions Club, Madero 280. Cost is $100 pesos. RSVP to pmt(at)hotmail.com. You are asked to please bring items for layettes for newborns at the Regional Hospital.

The Los Mangos Public Library has an exhibition called "Metamorfosis" - "The Horizon and Unknown Times Embraced." It is on display until October 31. Doors open at 7 pm with free admission.

I hosted the BanderasNews Weekend Beat last week. I walked into Len's blu salon to visit the big makeup box. One of Len's well-informed staff in "customer service" - Miguel - suggested it might take a truckload of cosmetics for me! Really... they are a fun group. Len these days is riding a scooter, and Larry, who just celebrated his birthday, is driving a hybrid. Cool guys!

One always feels joy when being around Hank and Conrad of Vallarta's restaurant fame. So nice to see them on the Malecón the other day.
