On Wednesday, April 29th, we celebrated Children's Day at Choco BananaCantina and raised $2560 pesos for Pasitos de Luz. This was during a period when many people didn't want to leave their homes, which just goes to show what a great community of tourists, snow birds, and full time residents who support worthy causes that there are here in Vallarta!

On May 6th, bANANaCANtiNA Charity Night will host Josh Gillespe and his team, who work hard to raise funds for Children of the Dump, so join us for another evening of great food, friendship and fun!

For the past 10 years Children of the Dump has been dedicated to helping the children of the Puerto Vallarta dump area realize the promise of a better life. Three blocks from the city dump, at the School of Champions, they give free Math, English and Computer classes to grades 3 thru 6, serving approximately 150 students Monday thru Friday.

They also distribute breakfast, lunch, and hot meals to around 1,400 children each school day in the needier outskirts of the city. In addition, they operate 5 child care centers that are available for single moms and families in need. The vision is to meet the basic needs of the poor and to provide the children with an education that will give them options for a brighter future.

On Wednesday, May 6, bANANaCANtiNA Charity Night will host Josh Gillespe and his team, who work hard to raise funds for Children of the Dump. They are young and full of great energy and love for all they do to help local children, so join us for an evening of great food, friendship and fun!

Some of the great prizes to raffle off include 6 Children of the Dump coffee mugs, Cassandra Shaw Jewelry and Gift Certificate and movie tickets donated from Mano a Mano.

Josh Gillespe, a Volunteer Coordinator for Children of the Dump, who assists in coordinating tours for those from the States and Canada wishing to visit and/or volunteer, will be hosting the event. He also teaches English at one of the public elementary schools that Children of the Dump supports.
