Sunday, July 5, is election day in Mexico, and by law, liquor can’t be sold in the 24 hours before polls open.
If you are planning on celebrating America’s Independence Day in Mexico this year, you'd better stock up on your holiday libations today. Sunday, July 5, is election day in Mexico, and by law, liquor can’t be sold in the 24 hours before polls open.

That means that on Saturday, July 4th, bars and nightclubs will be closed, restaurants and resorts will not be allowed to serve alcohol, and stores cannot sell alcoholic beverages for a 24-hour period that begins at midnight tonight.

According to Puerto Vallarta's Convention and Visitors Bureau, restaurants will remain open through the weekend (sans alcohol,) and bars and nightclubs will reopen on Sunday, July 5th.
