On December 12, Los Arroyos Verdes hosted 50 children from Orphenata Mojoneras in Puerto Vallarta and Manos de Amor, the orphanage founded and underwritten by Guadalupe Dipp, owner of Los Arroyos Verdes. A total of 50 children enjoyed an afternoon of traditional Mexican Christmas activities that included singing, games and swinging at Christmas-themed Piñatas.

Volunteers looked on as the kids tore into gifts provided by Los Arroyos Verdes and several volunteers. The children also performed Mexican Christmas carols and enjoyed dinner on the basketball-court/patio adjacent to Bambuu restaurant on the Los Arroyos Verdes resort grounds.

The Manos de Amor orphanage is located a few blocks from Los Arroyos Verdes, and has beds to accommodate up to 50 children, although currently, there are only 20 children. Why did Dipp build an orphanage? "Because I am fortunate to have so much. It's my turn to give back," she says. "We would like to increase the number of children we can feed and house," says Dipp. "But we need help. We get no help from the government." The list of needs for Manos de Amor includes money, school supplies, clothing and food for the children.

If you would like to find out how you can help Manos de Amor, please contact Guadalupe at lupedipp(at)mac.com.
