A little over a year after opening, the Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center has become one of the most important projects of the Jalisco State Government. Puerto Vallarta now has a significant business opportunity for the meetings tourism industry, placing it among one of the most important beach destinations in Mexico.

From March to December 2009, 15 major events were carried out, with 14,016 participants in attendance, generating an occupancy of more than 7000 rooms in local hotels. In 2010, the convention center has already hosted 29 events, doubling the 2009 objective, with a host of pending events awaiting confirmation.

The Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center provides businesses from around the world the opportunity to host a variety of events, such as congresses, conferences, forums, summits, exhibitions, social events, shows, corporate and sporting events, strengthening Puerto Vallarta's position as an important meeting venue in Mexico.

Upcoming events, scheduled to take place this year, include:

First National Congress of Nutrition in Puerto Vallarta - July 01-03, 2010
An overview of nutrition in Mexico organized by the Nutritional Diagnostic Center of Puerto Vallarta. An estimated 1000 people are expected to participate.

Academic Act of the Mexico American School - July 06, 2010

The XIV edition of ExProTur Vallarta, an International exposition for tourist industry service providers in the Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit and Banderas Bay areas, returns to the Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center for the second year; along with the third edition of the EXPOCONSTRUYA Building Expo, featuring an endless range of products and services of hardware stores and construction industry suppliers. XXVI Congress of the Latin American Association of Psychiatry - October 28-November 1, 2010
Puerto Vallarta will host the opening ceremony and dinner for the XXVI Congress of the Latin American Association of Psychiatry. More than 1200 participants, accompanied by federal, state and municipal experts in this field are expected to attend.

National Congress of Traumatology and Orthopedics - November 2-6, 2010
The XXI National Congress of Traumatology and Orthopedics presented by the National College of Orthopedics and the AMOT Orthopedics and Traumatology School of Puerto Vallarta. More than 2000 attendees from Argentina, Brazil, Austria, U.S. and Mexico, among others are expected to attend.

World Forum on Migration and Development (INAMI) - November 2010
The Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center will host the 4th Meeting of the World Forum on Migration and Development, with the theme "Mexico Partnerships in Migration and Human Development: Shared Prosperity and Responsibility" organized by the National Immigration Institute. World Tourism Organization (WTO) Parliamentary Forum - November 2010
The World Tourism Forum prepares to take its highly successful event to the Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center, in order to sensitize parliamentarians and local authorities on the importance of tourism, and the relationship between their development and major challenges ahead for the future. Located off of Vallarta's main thoroughfare, Avenue Mexico, only 10 minutes from the Hotel Zone, 5 minutes from the International Airport and 20 minutes from downtown, the convention center is comprised of 17 hectares, of which 5000 m2 are intended for exhibitions, conferences and conventions with a maximum capacity of 7000 people in the indoor exhibition areas. Outside there are 23,000 m2 for external events, a parking lot that accommodates 670 cars, and a special lot for 50 buses.

With a vision of growth and added value to the area, by the end of this year, developers will start the construction of an access road to the convention center from Marina Vallarta, shortening the distance to only five minutes from the hotel zone.
