Wow! Does Bucerias Know How to Throw a Party!

At the Bucerías Chile Cook-off, a fun-filled event held on November 26th to benefit local charities, the prize for 'most popular chile' was won by Puerto Vallarta’s very own Sid Goodman.
On Friday, November 26, 2010, three of us headed north to Bucerías in support of our good friend Sid Goodman, who was entering the Bucerías Chile Cook-off (to benefit local charities in their town.)

I am embarrassed to say, it has been years since I had spent any time in this fantastic little pueblo only a short distance north of Vallarta. Interesting shops and restaurants galore! I was able to go exploring (and shopping!) as Sid and crew set up for the event.

By 5 pm, the street that was closed off for the event was hopping! The music played, the smell of chile was in the air as a vast amount of people passed from one decorated table to the next, sampling the various entries of chile. Chicken Chile and Green Tea Vegetarian Chile were only some of the types available. Yum!

But, in the end, Vallarta’s very own Sid Goodman won the most popular chile! His small contingent of Puerto Vallarta supporters cheered like proud parents as he received the award.

A big congratulations to all of the participants but most of all, to the folks in Bucerías who did an outstanding job of organizing this event. Take a day and head to Bucerías and see all of the things that they have to offer there. You will be glad you did!
