Grammy Award-Winner to Perform IAMPV Fundraisers

January 29, 2019

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The IAMPV (Instituto de Artes Musicales Puerto Vallarta) is delighted to announce two fundraising concerts featuring Grammy Award winning cellist Don Moline, of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, accompanied by local musicians Jean-Guy Comeau on piano), Daniel Oliveros on clarinet) and Klaus Liebetanz on flute.

Classical music lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy two evenings of world-class performances in the Banderas Bay area. The concerts will be held on Thursday, January 31 at Jardín Montenegro Restaurant in Nuevo Vallarta (Boulevard Nuevo Vallarta #220) and on Saturday, February 2 at Centro Cultural Isla Cuale in Puerto Vallarta (Aquiles Serdan #437).

Both evenings will begin with drinks and hors-d'oeuvres at 6:00 pm, followed by a 7 pm concert. During the first hour, the IAMPV students will give performances.

Grammy award-winning cellist Donald Moline, now retired, was a cellist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for 39 years and has established a distinguished orchestral, chamber music, solo and recording career. He has performed in virtually every corner of the globe with many of the world's greatest conductors and musicians.

Jean-Guy Comeau who holds degrees in pedagogy, voice and piano, was born in Atlantic Canada and works in Montreal and Puerto Vallarta. His interests include making his contribution to the cultural scene in Vallarta, making music with wonderful musicians and presenting interesting repertoire in the field of jazz, classical and Latin music.

As if this were not enough to have us all running to buy tickets, John Henry Kreitler, a 10-time Emmy-winning composer of concert, film/TV and theatre music who resides part time in Mismaloya, has composed, especially for this event, Sonidos de Vallarta, a four-part suite for cello, flute and clarinet which will be performed as a World Premiere. Other works to be performed are by Duport, Tchaikovsky, Massenet, Granados, and Piazzolla.

Concert tickets are priced at $1200 pesos and are available for purchase at iampv.org.

All of the proceeds from these events will go to IAMPV (Instituto de Artes Musicales Puerto Vallarta) a non-profit organization that provides musical education for students in Vallarta and the surrounding areas, and serves as an umbrella organization for the Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra and the Salty Paws Jazz Orchestra.
