Puerto Vallarta Busy Preparing Semana Santa Activities

March 21, 2019

Accompanied by a bilingual tour guide, these sustainable vehicles allow tourists to enjoy a new experience while exercising and learning about the culture of the city, constituting a novel attraction for visitors.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - With the two-week Easter holiday period fast approaching, the municipal government of Puerto Vallarta is busy preparing a series of activities through the Tourism Department that will attract tourists to the city's downtown area.

Municipal tourism director Ramón González Lomelí said that the city will set up four stages on the Malecón, where every afternoon, visitors and residents will be able to enjoy free entertainment, including traditional Mexican dance, live music, circus shows and more.

The city's two 'Turicletos,' sustainable vehicles pedal-powered by 10 of the transports' 20 passengers, as well as a little train that will be put into operation on the Malecón just in time for Semana Santa, will be making trips to these events for the enjoyment of tourists.

González Lomelí said that these are just some of the activities that the city has planned for the Easter holidays and beyond that are designed to promote tourism.

The celebrations will continue into the month of May with other events of great importance to the destination, including the 13th Festival Vallarta Azteca del Folclor from April 28 through May 5, the Puerto Vallarta Open ATP Tennis Tournament from April 29 through May 5, and the 2019 Down Puerto Vallarta Extreme Bike Race on May 18 & 19.

"These are just some of the activities that we have planned for the Easter vacation period and the month of May. We have several more projects in the works, in addition to some very important groups and conventions that will be arriving in Puerto Vallarta over the next few months," the tourism director concluded.
