Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - After the incredible success of its first two editions, Down Puerto Vallarta is coming back to town on May 18 and 19, 2019, bringing some of the best extreme bikers in the world to the streets of downtown Puerto Vallarta, where they will compete for more than $300,000 pesos in prizes.

Cyclists from 12 countries, including Chile and Brazil, will come to Puerto Vallarta for a weekend of high-octane racing on a back road that runs from the scenic Cerro de la Cruz lookout high above the city to the Malecón in a panoramic 900 meter long speedway outfitted with ramps for bikers to fly down.

What makes PV so perfect for an extreme bike race is the very nature of the city. Featuring steep slopes, dramatic descents, towering stairways, tight alleys, sharp turns, smooth stretches for picking up speed, and enough gorgeous scenery in every direction to distract even the most dedicated rider, the urban course isn't very long, but it's technically challenging.

Competing in this extreme downhill race is a daring feat that's not for the faint of heart. It requires both technical skills and nerves of steel to fly down the winding path toward Banderas Bay. Bikers will have the opportunity to take practice runs on Saturday. During Sunday's competition, they'll ride the course three times: once to warm up and two competitive runs for a best overall time. Only a fraction of a second will separate the first and second place winners, so every twist and turn will count.

As they race towards the Malecón, the bikers will come down Aldama street at around 4:00 pm, giving spectators an opportunity to see prestigious international athletes racing down the hill at high speeds in this not-for-amateurs competition.

Just as the sun starts to set over Banderas Bay, head down to the Malecón, where the bikers will show off their skills while performing bike tricks, acrobatics, big air and aerial flips on mega-ramps specially constructed for the Down Puerto Vallarta freestyle competition, while the crowd gasps in awe.

Watching the Down Puerto Vallarta competition is completely free and open to the public, but to get a good seat, you'll want to show up early or make a reservation at a nearby restaurant. If you can secure a good location to watch the competition, you'll get to be a part of one of the biggest extreme sporting events of the year.

Nearly 30,000 people attended last year's event, so mark May 18 and 19 on your calendar NOW and plan to get there early so you won't miss an incredible show.
