Hiking up to the Mirador de la Cruz gives you a stunning bird's-eye view of the bay, but for these extreme bikers, this is only the starting line in their intense competition and one of the most daring Puerto Vallarta events. The urban course isn't very long, but it is technically challenging with steep curves, stairs, and dirt trails. Bikers will get to ride the course three times: once to warm up and two competitive times for a best overall time. Only a fraction of a second will separate first from second place, making every twist and turn count during Down Puerto Vallarta 2019.

During the Puerto Vallarta extreme sports event, there will also be a freestyle trick competition along the Malecon. Bikers will show off their acrobatics, big air, and aerial flips as they fly over ramps while the crowd gasps in awe. The competition is scheduled for close to sunset, so the bikers will be lit up by orange and purples hues with a stunning backdrop.

México, 24 Abr (Notimex).- Ciclistas de 12 países, entre ellos Chile y Brasil, participarán en la tercera edición del Down Puerto Vallarta, programado del 18 y 19 de mayo, con una premiación de más de 300 mil pesos.

El director del Fideicomiso de Turismo Puerto Vallarta, Javier Aranda, así como Ernesto Rivas y Fernando del Olmo, responsables de la cuestión técnica de la prueba, hicieron la presentación del evento que se desarrollará dentro de las celebraciones de los 101 años de haber recibido el nombramiento como municipio.

En la conferencia de prensa, Ernesto Rivas compartió que, debido al interés de los ciclistas por el Down Puerto Vallarta, se tuvo que cancelar un evento en Suiza, lo cual refleja la importancia que representa esta competencia a nivel mundial.

Entre las figuras que participarán se encuentran el chileno Pedro Ferreira, el francés Rémy Métailler, el brasileño Bernardo Cruz y Tomás Slavík, en la modalidad de downhill; el francés Antoine Bizet, los estadunidenses Ethan Nell y DJ Brandt, en categoría de trucos.

Enfatizó que por México estarán como máximos exponentes Ray Fournier, Ricardo Peredo y Javier Alcántara. “Hay muchos mexicanos, pero son los tres que pueden estar ahí haciendo buenos papeles”.
