2019 Down Puerto Vallarta Extreme Bike Race Results

May 24, 2019
40 extreme athletes competed in 2 categories: Urban Descent and Freestyle, both of which took them from the Sierra Madre's Cerro de La Cruz to downtown's El Malecón on a 900 meter long speedway.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Some of the best extreme bikers in the world hit the streets of downtown last weekend for the third edition of 'Down Puerto Vallarta,' an exciting urban biking competition that was part of the municipality's 101st anniversary celebrations.

Puerto Vallarta's majestic Sierra Madre mountains, beautiful Bay of Banderas and iconic Malecón provided the perfect background for the 40 national and international athletes that competed in the race's two categories: Urban Descent and Freestyle, both of which took them from the Sierra Madre's Cerro de La Cruz to downtown's El Malecón on a panoramic 900 meter long speedway.

Vallarta residents and visitors lined the streets to cheer them on, but the largest crowd was on the Malecón, where thousands of extreme sports fans were thrilled by the impressive jumps, acrobatics, bike tricks and aerial stunts performed by competitors from Ecuador, France, England, Ecuador, Chile, the United States and Mexico.

An awards ceremony immediately followed the competition, with medals and cash prizes awarded to the first three places in both categories. And the winners were:

URBAN DESCENT
First Place: Adrien Loron (France)
Second Place: Pedro Ferreira (Chile)
Third Place: Camilo Sánchez (Colombia)

FREESTYLE
First Place: Bienvenido Aguado (Spain)
Second Place: Sam Pilgrim (United Kingdom)
Third Place: DJ Brandt (United States)

All in all, the third edition of 'Down Puerto Vallarta' was a great success - and it was just one of the many exciting events that the City has planned for the municipality's 101st anniversary celebrations - most all of which are free and open to the public.
