Us Two: Daniel Celis and Noemí Plascencia Plasencia, the awarded top band of the past season at Act II, has researched, tested and approved the songs for this show which became a Number One smash of 2018-2019 and now our friends are back for the summer to enhance the summer of heat and rain. What a super way to get the ecstatic room going but to launch into "Dancing Queen". The band played lead-in beats and then our lovely, sexy and smart couple entered the room blasting through the dance number. Daniel brought Elton John onto the stage with the self-named classic "Daniel" which he absorbed and sent soaring throughout the room. "The Winner Takes it All" started with Noemi softly pairing with the keyboardist then stirring the tune with Daniel adding harmonies and backgrounds. Elton bounced back with "Don't Go Breaking My Heart", which Elton had recorded with Kiki Dee. Of course, "Mamma Mia" needed to be featured after becoming a hit ABBA musical play and movie. It was a crowd-boiler. Noemi started "Chiquitita" in Spanish then flowed into English. It is a stirring and beautiful song with Noemi presenting the best of the composition. Daniel took the wonderful story of seeing a Russian beauty "Nikita" who will never belong to him or even know him: Oh Nikita is the other side of any given line in time. This is a stunning, oft-overlooked composition ranks among Elton's best done with mastery. Daniel alerted everyone that they are working on a very big new show for November which gives tribute to The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. Word is that Noemi displays a terrific Stevie Nicks. They gave sneak previews of the former's "New Kid in Town" and the latter's "Go Your Own Way". These two numbers were sufficient to whet the appetites for more. ABBA's "Take a Chance on Me" induced bouncy feelings to the night, onstage and off, swinging back and forth. Noemi appeared to enjoy this song very much. Daniel expressed intense sadness and sorrow with "Sorry Seems To Be the Hardest Word". The lyrical thoughts seeped out of his inner being. Noemi shone forth vocally with "Fernando", a beautiful historic Latin story of a man fighting for his country and freedom. Daniel related the difficulty in choosing the special songs for this collaboration. They researched and listened to hundreds of classic songs from these two prolific musicians/bands. They knew none of the songs from past shows, so it was a strenuous but rewarding process along with their band playing each song under consideration until they decided on the final cuts. He called upon everyone to relay song ideas as this show progresses and new ones continue along the planning stages and flow into realities. Elton John's "Sad Songs [Say So Much]" was delightfully catchy and entertaining. Daniel grasped the emphatic "I'm Still Standing", spinning the tune with the four-man band blending a stunning accompaniment. This was Daniel at his best. Us Two has assembled a terrific in-synch band with world-famous drummer Alex Shilinsky beating on an electronic drum kit called Roland Octapad, Eduardo OsuNa playing a deep-chording bass guitar, Fernando Ibarra on the keyboard [from which other instruments arise from his skilled fingers] and Jorge Rodríguez a crowd-thrilling lead guitarist. Daniel played his acoustic guitar on most of the numbers, always in the groove. Noemi broke into a stirring "Gimme Gimme Gimme": 'a man after midnight'. She strutted the area and controlled the audience completely. Daniel sadly announced the final song of the evening with many persons moaning in disappointment. Saluting the new biopic of Elton John, "Rocket Man" was the perfect ending number of this evening. The two zoomed all over the stage with the entire band adding personal touches and featuring the lovely harmonies and echoes of Noemi. The audience rose to its feet as the duo promised to return this summer weekly with this new tweaked compilation show. Then, watch for announcements of their five different shows which they are working on during the next several months, premiering in November. As last season, each show allows these two artists to challenge themselves and give musical thrills for any person's tastes.
