Vallarta Provides 50,000 Students with School Supplies

August 21, 2019

Mayor Arturo Dávalos Peña spent last Sunday supervising the organization of the backpacks filled with school supplies that will be distributed to students attending public schools in Puerto Vallarta.

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - With Puerto Vallarta schools now back in session, Mayor Arturo Dávalos Peña spent last Sunday supervising the organization of the backpacks filled with school supplies that will be distributed to local students attending public preschool, primary, and secondary schools - free of charge.

The Municipal President was pleased to find that the school supplies were complete and according to the lists issued for each grade, which means that some 50,000 students will have all of the tools they'll need over the course of the school year.

He also inspected the quality of the school shoes and uniforms that the 29,000 students that had previously enrolled in the Department of Social Development's School Shoes and Uniform Program will receive. This program, which is 100% funded by municipal resources, represents a significant savings for local families.

Mayor Dávalos said that work is already being done on coordination and logistics so that the delivery of the back to school supplies to the municipality's 236 public schools can begin on August 28.

For his part, the Director of Social Development, Víctor Bernal, said that his staff, along with personnel from other municipal agencies and social committees, are prepared to carry out the delivery of the backpacks, uniforms and shoes as quickly as possible to all public school children in the municipality.

It should be noted that the city's Back to School program also includes School Accident Insurance, which provides both students and teachers with emergency care for any accidents that may occur at school, while traveling from home to campus and from campus back home, free of charge and in first-rate hospitals.
