Jose Guadalupe Posada, the artist who created Catrina about 100 years ago, is being honored in Mexico City with replicas of his illustrations and a giant Day of the Dead alter dedicated to him in the main plaza. Posada created the macabre figure sometime between 1910 and 1913.
