Mexico Street Drugs

Mexico has long been a pipeline for drugs into the United States. But decades of drug trafficking has left at least 1 million Mexicans addicted to heroin, cocaine and other drugs. Addicts trying to quit are filling clinics, while cartels are fighting in northern Mexico over billion-dollar smuggling routes.

Federal Preventive Police look for evidence after a man was shot during a protest in front of the Presidential Municipal Building June 17, 2005, in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. The man, shot inside a parked SUV, died and two passengers were wounded. The victim was a participant in a protest in support of the municipal police.
