Top 10: Top 99-Producing Countries
email this pageprint this pageemail usShawn Loeffler - AskMen.com

If you’re looking for a parade of alluring females, then you’ve come to the right place at the right time.
If you were to visit the offices of AskMen.com these days, you would find many exhausted and excited men. Exhausted because we are preparing our annual Top 99 Most Desirable Women list - which launches on January 31, 2007 - and excited for the same reason.

In honor of the women who have graced our previous lists we decided to take a world tour and visit the lands that our favorite beauties have come from. In other words, let's trot through the world’s Top 10 babe-producing countries, as indicated by AskMen.com's previous installments of the Top 99.
Number 10 - Mexico

Steeped in culture, tradition, exotic locales, and great food, our 108 million neighbors to the south enjoy annual temperatures that range from 68°F to 82°F. Mexico City is one of the world’s largest cities and the country itself is the 15th largest. But enough with the lesson in earth sciences - what’s more intoxicating than a seductive, sensual and passionate Latin lover? Well, how about two? Year after year Salma Hayek and Elsa Benitez have turned up on our lists, and why wouldn’t they? In Hayek, we have the voluptuous movie star that has appeared in some of our favorite movies, such as Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, and Traffic. And in Benitez, we have the statuesque supermodel who has inspired many men to dream.

Finest exports: Salma Hayek (No. 35 in 2002; No. 4 in 2003; No. 19 in 2005; No. 25 in 2006) and Elsa Benitez (No. 2 in 2002; No. 11 in 2003; No. 7 in 2005; No. 34 in 2006).

Number 9 - Germany

Germany long lived in the ominous shadow of some of its 20th century leaders. But as one of Europe’s most storied and beautiful countries, it now enjoys its status as the world’s third largest economy and the world’s largest exporter. Thankfully, one of those exports happens to be tall, blonde and gorgeous supermodels. Claudia Schiffer, who seems to get more beautiful with each passing year, ushered in a decade that did away with rail-thin, coke-addled models. She also brought a dignity and class back to the image of the blonde bombshell, qualities that had been missing since the days of Marilyn Monroe. Claudia's countrywoman Heidi Klum has been named by some as the most beautiful woman of all time, and we are inclined to agree. In addition to being a super-hot supermodel, Heidi is also an artist, producer, designer, and actress.

Finest exports: Claudia Schiffer (No. 62 in 2002; No. 86 in 2003) and Heidi Klum (No. 4 in 2002; No. 3 in 2003; No. 5 in 2005; No. 11 in 2006).

Number 8 - Czech Republic

Since emerging from communist rule, the Czech Republic has survived a late-'90s recession to become a stable and prosperous state. Though the rate of corruption is high, so is tourism and exportation to the European Union. We’re grateful that some of those exports happen to be beautiful women. There must be something about becoming a democratic nation that leads to native lingerie-clad supermodels, such as Petra Nemcova, sprouting up all over the world.

Finest exports: Petra Nemcova (No. 21 in 2003; No. 16 in 2005; No. 16 in 2006), Veronika Varekova (No. 21 in 2005; No. 48 in 2006) and Daniela Pestova (No. 24 in 2002).

Number 7 - France

What can we say? France has been associated with romance and provocateur cinema for many years. Its capital city, Paris, is known throughout the world as both the City of Light and the City of Love. And if you make France a travel destination, you might want to learn how to twist your head around like Linda Blair did in The Exorcist so that you can fully enjoy the intoxicating women, such as Sophie Marceau and Laetitia Casta. Perhaps stunning women is a byproduct of a nation that overthrows its monarchy and terminates the royal bloodline. Finest exports: Sophie Marceau (No. 81 in 2002; No. 91 in 2003; No. 95 in 2005), Ophelie Winter (No. 27 in 2002) and Laetitia Casta (No. 26 in 2003; No. 35 in 2005).

Number 6 - Italy

Italy once dominated the globe with the Roman Empire. Today it dominates as one of the world’s greatest fashion hubs and birthplace to some of the most beautiful women ever seen. Take actress and former fashion model Monica Bellucci, for example; she has ranked in the top five of our Top 99 an astounding three times. Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci once sculpted beauty from stone, but now living and breathing beauty walks on various catwalks throughout Italy.

Finest exports: Maria Grazia Cucinotta (No. 29 in 2002), Monica Bellucci (No. 1 in 2002; No.5 in 2003; No. 2 in 2005; No. 15 in 2006), Sophia Loren (No. 88 in 2003), and Vanessa Hessler (No. 92 in 2006).

Number 5 - Brazil

There’s no question that the world’s fifth largest country, both in population and land mass, is going to produce hot women. We’re just thankful that this country’s warm climate creates women who are accustomed to wearing next to nothing. Brazil has the world’s ninth largest economy and has kept busy exporting aircraft, coffee, soybean, iron ore, orange juice, electrical equipment, and, best of all, supermodels. In fact, Salvador native Adriana Lima topped the list in 2005.

Finest exports: Adriana Lima (No. 33 in 2002; No. 75 in 2003; No. 1 in 2005; No. 4 in 2006), Gisele Bundchen (No. 16 in 2002; No. 42 in 2003; No. 26 in 2005; No. 26 in 2006), Fernanda Tavares (No. 93 in 2003; No. 49 in 2005), Ana Beatriz Barros (No. 61 in 2003), and Alessandra Ambrosio (No. 36 in 2006).

Number 4 - Australia

If being Down Under means being smothered by the female locals, we’re there. In the U.S. we have a tendency to adopt Australians as our own, forgetting that they actually come from a land that is a part of the Commonwealth. But can you blame us for wanting to get our hands on the likes of Elle MacPherson, Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts? The majority of Australia’s 20.6 million people live in coastal cities. It has to be the combination of an arid climate and the salt water that's producing all these marvelously gorgeous and talented Aussies.

Finest exports: Kylie Minogue (No. 94 in 2002; No. 58 in 2003; No. 48 in 2005; No. 39 in 2006) Elle MacPherson (No. 11 in 2002), Holly Valance (No. 71 in 2003; No. 69 in 2005; No. 62 in 2006), Natalie Imbruglia (No. 59 in 2003), Nicole Kidman (No. 51 in 2003; No. 68 in 2005; No. 96 in 2006), Naomi Watts (No. 59 in 2005; No. 29 in 2006), and Jennifer Hawkins (No. 13 in 2006).

Number 3 - Canada

Not to perpetuate the myth that Canadians live in a frigid and uncompromising climate, but whatever they are doing when they are holed up for the winter is working. Just look at some of Canada's Top 99 alumni: Morgan Webb, Kristin Kreuk, Elisha Cuthbert, and Evangeline Lilly, to name a few. With those darn Canucks, we share the largest international border, a free-trade agreement and a love for beautiful and intelligent women. And without them, Superman would have no inspiration, we’d be Lost, and we’d never watch shows about gaming.

Finest exports: Pamela Anderson (No. 71 in 2002; No. 66 in 2003; No. 81 in 2005), Estella Warren (No. 50 in 2002; No. 69 in 2003), Shania Twain (No. 18 in 2002; No. 8 in 2003; No. 24 in 2005; No. 44 in 2006), Kristin Kreuk (No. 16 in 2003; No. 18 in 2005), Elisha Cuthbert (No. 30 in 2005; No. 23 in 2006), Morgan Webb (No. 83 in 2006), Lisa Ray (No. 73 in 2006), Evangeline Lilly (No. 45 in 2006), and Trish Stratus (No. 30 in 2006).

Number 2 - UK

When we think of the UK, we typically think of the Queen and puritanical conduct. However, we often overlook the fact that in England they have something known as the Page 3 girl. And the topless appearances of such Page 3 girls as Jordan and Kelly Brook proves that a proper-sounding accent doesn’t necessarily imply a rigid people. Through centuries past, the Brits colonized several parts of the world, but these days it’s their celebs that colonize our minds and entertainment worlds. The doom-and-gloom weather has certainly preserved the fair complexions of many of the UK's hottest exports; just look at the striking faces of Kate Beckinsale, Sienna Miller and Thandie Newton.

Finest exports: Naomi Campbell (No. 90 in 2002), Catherine Bell (No. 84 in 2002; No. 62 in 2003; No. 33 in 2005), Claire Forlani (No. 79 in 2002), Thandie Newton (No. 59 in 2002; No. 62 in 2003; No. 85 in 2005), Elizabeth Hurley (No. 39 in 2002; No. 31 in 2003), Kelly Brook (No.8 in 2002; No. 47 in 2003; No. 41 in 2005; No. 42 in 2006) , Keira Knightley (No. 99 in 2003; No. 17 in 2005; No. 35 in 2006), Rachel Weisz (No. 83 in 2003; No. 51 in 2005; No. 69 in 2006), Jordan (No. 77 in 2003; No. 73 in 2005), Lisa Snowdon (No. 54 in 2003), Sienna Miller (No. 86 in 2005; No. 2 in 2006), Rachel Stevens (No. 62 in 2005; No. 59 in 2006), Kate Beckinsale (No. 22 in 2005; No. 74 in 2006), and Natasha Bedingfield (No. 70 in 2006).

Number 1 - U.S.

Does this entry surprise you? We do have something of an unfair advantage here; we have a population of 300 million and the biggest melting pot the world has ever seen. According to the 2000 census, the U.S. is home to 31 different ethnic groups that have more than a million representatives, and many others of smaller populations. With all these people mixing the best genes in the world to create the likes of Jessica Alba, Rebecca Romijn, Jennifer Lopez, and Eva Longoria, it’s no wonder that we have so many entries on AskMen.com’s Top 99 lists. Land of the Free, Home of the Brave should be changed to Land of the Fine, Home of the Hot.

Finest exports: While we can’t possibly list them all, here are some highlights: Jessica Alba (No. 13 in 2002; No. 78 in 2005; No. 1 in 2006), Angelina Jolie (No. 28 in 2002; No. 23 in 2003; No. 9 in 2005; No. 3 in 2006), Halle Berry (No. 3 in 2002; No. 2 in 2003; No. 10 in 2005; No. 19 in 2006), Beyonce (No. 14 in 2002; No. 10 in 2003; No. 8 in 2005; No. 50 in 2006), Brooke Burke (No. 6 in 2002; No. 6 in 2003; No. 6 in 2005; No. 43 in 2006), Scarlett Johansson (No. 84 in 2005; No. 28 in 2006), Jessica Biel (No. 47 in 2002; No. 38 in 2003; No. 11 in 2005; No. 7 in 2006), and Lucy Liu (No. 9 in 2002; No. 50 in 2003; No. 80 in 2005; No. 93 in 2006).
