| Jennifer Lopez got the nod for Artist of the Year for her four hit projects in 2007. | Mexican actresses Kate del Castillo and Angelica Vale together with Puerto Rico's Adamari Lopez were among the "Stars of the Year" chosen by the magazine People en Espanol for their exploits on and off the set.
The magazine chose nine celebrities for its year-end edition, which will hit the newsstands Monday.
Del Castillo was crowned Actress of the Year for her cinematic success in 2007 both in Hollywood and in her own country.
Vale, meanwhile, took home Comedian of the Year honors for her captivating characterization of "Letty" in the telenovela "La Fea Mas Bella" (The Prettiest Ugly Girl), which won fans as far afield as Turkey.
Puerto Rican Adamari Lopez was chosen as Comeback of the Year for her return to telenovelas (soap operas) after having her career put on hold for a year when she discovered she had breast cancer and had to undergo a mastectomy.
Jennifer Lopez got the nod for Artist of the Year for her four hit projects in 2007: her first disc in Spanish "Como Ama una Mujer" (How a Woman Loves); another in English entitled "Brave;" producing and starring in the movie "El Cantante" (The Singer); and a concert tour with spouse Marc Anthony that toured several cities around the United States.
"And now it looks like Lopez will add her first baby to the list in 2008," People en Espa??ol said.
Singer Luis Miguel landed the title of Dad of the Year because in 2007 the so-called "Sun of Mexico" not only became the father of a baby boy by actress Aracely Arambula, but also reconciled with 18-year-old Michelle Salas, his - until recently - unacknowledged daughter by Stephanie Salas.
Singers Juan Luis Guerra and Victor Manuelle were named by the magazine as the Legend and Salsero of the Year, respectively, while Jackie Guerrido, who does the Univision weather report, and reggaeton singer Don Omar, smitten and planning to wed, were named the Couple of 2007. |
