President Calderón inaugurated Regional General Hospital No. 2. of the IMSS in the Federal District this week, which will benefit 1,170,000 members in this part of the capital and nearly 2,300,000 members in the institute’s southern delegation.
After formally inaugurating this hospital, in operation since May 8, the President announced that this year, the IMSS will receive a budget of $5.6 billion pesos in physical investment, which will be used to promote 384 projects, including works under construction and works required by the Mexican Social Security Institute.
“It is a dream that has been shelved for many years. It is easy to say but construction on this hospital began over 20 years ago," declared President Calderón, recalled that construction first began in 1987.
“Today, at long last, we are not only handing it over to the community and its beneficiaries, but also, as mentioned earlier, handing it over fully functioning, so people don't say that someone else will have to come along and inaugurate it when it's ready," he added.
Accompanied by IMSS Director General, Juan Molinar Horcasitas, as well as ISSSTE Director General Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares, President Felipe Calderón stated that the launching of the Regional General Hospital No. 2. of the IMSS "demonstrates Federal Government's clear, unwavering commitment to the inhabitants of Mexico City so that they can live better."
He explained that the strong, prosperous future, with equitable development of a democratic nation, "is neither a question of chance or good luck; it is the result of hard work, freedom, unity and capacity for dialogue and understanding."
In addition to formally inaugurating Regional General Hospital No. 2. of the IMSS in the Federal District, President Calderón launched 117 new ambulances for the organization's hospitals and declared that this year, the Institute will have a total of 600,000 new units of this type, to provide service for all its members. |
