Mexico City – Mexico has reported four more confirmed deaths from swine flu, raising the toll to 74 nationwide.

The Health Department says all but seven of the dead contracted the flu before April 23, when the new strain was identified and officials declared emergency measures.

The department said Tuesday that the epidemic "continues its tendency to decline."

The country also reported 88 more confirmed cases of the virus, bringing to 3,734 the number of people sickened.

Mexico closed many businesses and schools in late April to limit the spread of the flu. But by Monday all students were back in classes.
