Get out your golf clubs! The El Tigre 8th Anniversary Golf Tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9 am on Friday, May 7th at El Tigre Golf and Country Club in Nuevo Vallarta. All local and visiting golfers are invited to compete for great prizes in a two-person team Best Ball Tournament.
Kids Cup Tennis Tournament at Canto Del Sol May 11-15

The Jalisco Kids Cup will be held from May 11th-15th and will feature the best youngsters in the State of Jalisco competing in eight different age groups, 9-16 years old. Both boys and girls will compete in singles only.
VYC Junior Sailors Win 7 Medals in 2010 National Junior Olympics

Every year Mexico has a competition for the top junior athletes from every State. This year the event, called the Olimpiadas Nacional, was held on Lake Chapala 14-18 April. Representing the State of Nayarit, the Vallarta Yacht Club qualified 13 youths from their Junior Program.

We saw our first early season Blue Marlin the other day. It was caught at Corbeteña and in the 500 lb range. Sailfish are also moving into the area & there's plenty of bait in the water, so it looks like the planets are beginning to align and we may see the beginning of a normal fishing season!

18th Annual Banderas Bay Regatta Now in the History Books

The 3rd and final race of the 2010 Banderas Ray Regatta was run Saturday. Boats raced a moderately long course and were blessed with some pretty brisk winds late in the afternoon. This led to some pretty spectacular spinnaker runs, treating those out on the bay watching the race, with a colorful visual treat.

On March 16th over 400 racers, regatta committee volunteers, and invited guests were treated to music by local group Kiacalli and then to a dance troupe from the Rhythms of the Night show at a Welcome Reception that officially opened the 2010 Banderas Bay Regatta.

This year's Banderas Bay Regatta will start on Tuesday, March 16 and run through Saturday, March 20. The Regatta, now in its 18th year, is unique in that it is designed specifically for the cruising sailor who is carrying extra sails, spare parts, a solar cell panel or two, and lots of provisions.
Sailor Tania Elias Beats Guinness Record

Tania Elias Calles, the top Mexican sailor, beat the Guinness Record for sailing in a laser without a motor, as the first step of her 2010 Challenge. Her challenge took place as part of the Riviera Nayarit Nautical Extravaganza, which continues through March 20, 2010.
