Families Find Homey Comforts at Villa del Palmar
Hospitality 1st - press release

| | Villa del Palmar was recognized with TravelAge West’s “WAVE” Award in the fall of 2006. The property was one of only four in Mexico to be honored in the category of “Best Family-Friendly Resort.” | When it comes to traveling with children, more and more parents are looking for exciting escapes that still provide easy access to many of the daily conveniences they enjoy at home. They also want a “has it all” place to relax, unwind and regroup. So when heading to Cabo San Lucas, families will find it all at Villa del Palmar.
Stretching along the white sands of El Medano Beach overlooking the Sea of Cortez, the 458-suite property is poised on the safest swimmable beach in Cabo San Lucas. Fresh from a $2.25 million suites and public areas renovation, the family-friendly, activity packed resort lies adjacent to recently opened Villa del Arco and ultra-luxurious Villa La Estancia in a gated, private enclave owned and operated by The Villa Group.
Homey conveniences abound in Villa del Palmar’s air-conditioned junior suites and collection of spacious one-, two- and three-bedroom suites - all with private balconies.
All full suites feature a kitchen complete with microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker and full-size refrigerator. Junior suites offer kitchenettes. So families have the option of stocking up on groceries at the on-site Palmita Market or dining at Villa del Palmar’s Las Tortugas and Bella California restaurants. They can also choose from a selection of restaurants located at the adjacent Villa del Arco and Villa La Estancia, or at Palmita Deli.
“Villa del Palmar is tailored to families,” noted Ricardo Orozco, Director General for The Villa Group Resorts Cabo San Lucas. “We’re on the safest, best swimming beach in Cabo San Lucas, with all ocean recreation available right off our shore. And we feature an on-site shopping center with grocery store, deli, video rental and medical clinic. So everything is easy.”
Further indicating its family focus, Villa del Palmar was recognized with TravelAge West’s “WAVE” Award in the fall of 2006. The property was one of only four in Mexico to be honored in the category of “Best Family-Friendly Resort.”
At Villa del Palmar, on-site activities literally abound. The kids splash the day away with ocean action while parents relax on the beach with an unobstructed view of Los Cabos’ famed landmark, El Arco at Land’s End.
The resort also features three tiered swimming pools, each catering to different desires. A favorite is the large family pool with its whale waterslide. Other amenities include a full European-style spa with fitness center, two lighted tennis courts, a putting green and daily activities held poolside or on the beach.
Making a family getaway even more enjoyable is the resort’s year-round Kids in Paradise Club. Parents can steal a little alone time while the youngsters play with others their own age in this fully supervised, fun-filled environment.
Age-specific activities are provided Sunday through Friday from 9am - 4pm, with a Kids Night including dinner, arcade and disco every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 - 9:30pm. Kids in Paradise participation is by the hour, half-hour or full-day.
The fun isn’t reserved just for youngsters, however. Each day from 10am – 4pm, teens and adults can join in complimentary activities at the main lower pool and beach areas. Families can get into all the action with beach and pool volleyball, water aerobics, basketball, bingo, shuffleboard, ping pong, Spanish lessons, and Mexican salsa and guacamole making.
The property’s Las Tortugas creates nightly themed dinner shows with appeal for all ages. “It’s a fun way for families to meet other families and enjoy a festive evening of dining and entertainment without having to leave the property,” added Orozco.
Families will also find the beachside Bella California open for breakfast, lunch and dinner overlooking the Sea of Cortez. Serving a fusion of California and Italian cuisines, the eatery features a wood-burning oven for freshly baked gourmet pizzas.
When it comes to off-site activities, a variety of Cabo land and ocean options are geared to all ages. Those into ocean action can opt for sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, wave runners, kayaking, parasailing, windsurfing and seasonal whale watching. Celebrated for its deep sea fishing, the waters of this “Marlin Capital of the World” thrive with marlin, sailfish, dorado, roosterfish, cabrilla, tuna and jack.
Land lovers are also in for a treat with ATV tours, horseback riding, championship golf and day excursions. The property’s Resort Entertainment Office assists guests with suggestions and reservations.
Through Dec. 19, 2007, a Family Fun Escape covers three nights in a one-bedroom suite sleeping up to four, daily breakfast buffet at Bella California, one theme dinner show per person, daily activities, two aromatherapy massages and in-room amenities (cookies or snacks and drinks) from $1,150 (USD). Additional nights are available from $254 each (room only).
