PRNewswire go to original

| | Situated on the Pacific coast of Central America, El Salvador has Guatemala to the west and Honduras to the north and east. It is the smallest of the Central American countries and the only one without an Atlantic coastline. Most of the country is on a fertile volcanic plateau about 607m (2000 ft) high. It is located between 88° to 90° western geographic longitude and 13° to 15° northern geographic latitude and has an area of 21,041 square kilometres (8,124 square miles). | San Salvador, El Salvador - El Salvador's presence at The Trade Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, last week helped spark more interest in this new destination among international tourism operators, especially those in the U.S.
Of the 60 booths in the north wing of the Convention Center, at least three of them offered tourist packages to El Salvador, along with other destinations such as Japan, Brazil, Costa Rica, Europe and more.
The Minister of Tourism, Ruben Rochi, along with staff from the Salvadoran Tourism Corporation and the country's Ministry of Tourism, assisted people who visited the "Cuscatleco" booth to get more information on what many consider an exotic and interesting destination.
Some of the most important contacts established at the trade show were with tour operators and travel magazines specializing in promotion of tourist destinations. These included: Travel Time Magazine, Dreamclickvacations, Marina Tours and Travel, Joann's Travel Service (specializing in trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas, the Philippines, Europe, Mexico and cruises all over the world). Other contacts were also made with Adventures Expo, Grove Travel, Royal Tourism and Travel, Woni Safaris and Travel (from Nairobi and Kenya) and Miros Travel Agency, from Yugoslavia.
Company representatives approached the Salvadoran contingent to update information they had received about the country, demonstrating that the worldwide promotion efforts embarked upon by the Ministry of Tourism are yielding positive, speedy results.
Various attendees, especially from North America, already know that El Salvador will be the venue for the Central American Showcase and Travel Expo, which is being developed as a permanent event. The first edition of the expo will be held October 25-29 and will be the only one of its kind in Central America.
The Trade Show ended September 11, after which Rochi and his team headed to Tokyo on Wednesday to attend Japan's JATA expo, one of the most important tourism fairs in Southeast Asia.
On another note, El Salvador participated in "La Cumbre" (The Americas Summit) tourism fair September 5-7 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The summit operates by appointment and El Salvador was given a warm reception, especially by Mexican and U.S. tour operators, who expressed their desire to know more about the products and tourist destinations our country has to offer.
