Mix of Many Vibes Gives Nayarit Its Unique Flavour

From the northern shores of Nayarit to the southern shores of Jalisco, the Banderas Bay area has become a prime retirement and vacation destination, and BanderasNews' videographer, Ray Dion, has caught most of it on film. Take a look at his "Mita to Mismaloya" video tour for a taste of the charm and true Mexican spirit you'll find in Vallarta.
Sayulita, Mexico – Those big waves, they just keep a-rollin' in. That's the way it has been for millennia along the isolated beaches in the state of Nayarit – an area marked by a ruffled coastline just north of Puerto Vallarta, and framed to the east by the blue outline of the lofty Sierra Madre Mountains.

Nowadays, it's a magnet for surfers.

"This town has a very eclectic flavour," says tourism representative Richard Zarkin, as he edges our van into a rare find – a parking space on the main street of Nayarit's latest hot spot, the enclave of Sayulita.
