Out and About in Puerto Vallarta Twila Crawford - PVNN November 05, 2009
| There's always something to keep you entertained while you are Out and About in Puerto Vallarta. (Photo by PromoVision) | | How about a stinky subject? Do you wonder if odors from the baño being built across from McDonald's and other restaurants and stores on the Malecón will be kept sanitary? Are these baños going to be built up and down the Malecón area? The tourism office had better get to work, or Puerto Vallarta may get some more unwanted publicity around the world. Just thinking about it, especially on a breezy day, as we dine on a cafe terrace, has us going "oh, yuck."
Don Eastcott has his "The No Name Bar & Grill" up and going in Nuevo Vallarta.
Nacho Daddy, Basilio Badillo 180, had a great opening on Halloween. All kinds of strange creatures lurked about as several bands provided fun entertainment. Sean and Joe, with music groups playing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday each week, may pull off a successful endeavor in a building that has seen many business turnovers. Greg Garner, as his card says, is the "Food Dude," if you have questions about the MexTex food, talk to Greg.
My Mexican friends tell me that certain Mexicans, because of the economic times, are staying in the country and not traveling to the U.S. or Europe. So certain restaurants have their continuing diners.
Across the street from Nacho Daddy, everyone is talking about a gelato/pizza store, Pianeta Gelato, Basilio Badillo 219. The gelato is displayed beautifully and tastes good. One of the owners, Jorge Espisnoza, is so excited about the business. The store also features lasagne.
Lisa Ozzello, RN, continues to develop Bahía Home Care, serving Riviera Nayarit and the Puerto Vallarta area. Deanne Rindt, who owns Dee's Coffee Company, Rodolfo Gomez 120, turned an age number with a zero. Congratulatory flowers adorned her coffee shop. Dee, along with her coffees and bakery items, are popular. She also has great sandwiches.
Jean Dunphy has tours lined up for the season. The tours are sponsored by the International Friendship Club and Beyond Vallarta Tours. The website is BeyondVallartaTours.com.
Authorities apparently are not happy with dog poo left behind on the Malecón. Supposedly dogs are banned now. Good luck! Lovely Cassandra Shaw, of the elegant jewelry store, has gotten out there and has been a poo picker-upper. She deserves a medal. And dog owners, for heaven's sake, pick up your dogs' droppings...please.
Kind Bruce and Julia of Teatro Limon welcomed back to town restaurant reviewer Gary Beck, along with friends. Bruce and Julia contributed the night's funds to Gary for his medical needs.
Michael of the former Kit Kat, is part of owners who are opening an elegant piano bar in El Centro. Tapas will be served. The opening will be in December.

With the wind and water from the backside of Hurricane Rick, many eggs and baby turtles were lost, helpers tell me. Among those involved were Scott Hagman and Janice Brevik, Tacoma, Washington. The were visiting Vallarta legend Vera Faulk who cares for and helps so many persons living near the city dump. The couple brought down 100 toothbrushes, baby clothes, shoes, rice, beans, bread, oil and soap. To help Vera, email: vfaulk50(at)yahoo.com.
We are thinking of sweet Yvonne Kalman who mourns the death of her husband, Helmuth Klumpp. She is a supporter of the SPCA and an animal lover. Friends and family have gathered around Yvonne.
