Mazatlán Sways Into Summer For Day of Music Celebration

Mazatlán, Mexico – The coastal city of Mazatlán sets the vibrant stage for renowned musical performances during its seventh annual Day of Music. This unique celebration takes place Saturday, June 12, beginning at 7pm and continuing well into the night amid warm, Pacific Ocean breezes and twinkling stars.
More than 200 nationally acclaimed and popular regional artists will converge for this year’s Day of Music, performing live on five outdoor stages located throughout historic Old Mazatlán. Strolling along the colonial town’s charming streets, music lovers can enjoy entertainment of all types, with sounds that range from classical, jazz and percussion to modern rock, pop, mariachi and more.
Presented by the Historic District of Mazatlán with the support of various local and state entities, Day of Music spotlights the destination’s rich culture and celebrated visual and performing arts.
“We are proud to unite the many diverse musical styles of Mazatlán in one Day of Music celebration,” says Jose Luis Franco, Director of Culture in Mazatlán. “Surrounded by the colorful sights and sounds of Old Mazatlán, visitors to this premier event can experience the authentic rhythm of our beautiful city in a whole new way.”
Day of Music features a continuous schedule of musical performances on five different stages. Highlights by nationally recognized artists and popular local bands include the following lineups:
• The Machado Stage (Heriberto Frias street) will feature performances by Psappha; the Guillermo Sarabia Choir; Culiacan Bras; Mexico City favorite, Faralae: and the lively world rhythms of Radiad.
• The Rock and Trends Stage (Ninos Heroes and Mariano Escobedo streets) will open the evening at sunset with the rock-fueled sounds of two Mazatlán bands, Coma Campus and The Insane. Mexico City-based band Hello Seahorse will take the stage next, featuring the “trip-happy-pop” style that has garnered national attention, before Selector closes the evening’s festivities.
• Banda and Tropical Stage (Olas Altas Drive) will host the Assembly of Percussions; Mambo Café Band from Venezuela; and La Mazatleca Band.
• Stage of Memory (Venustiano Carranza Street) features the swinging sounds of golden oldies from Los Sharks, as well as trio and mariachi music. Zarzuela will close the evening.
• Fusion Stage (Venus Street) Mazatlán introduces the musical sounds of Suncai Gitano, Flores Negras and Viaje Demo, concluding the evening with San Francisco group Ken & Lori with special guests.

About Mazatlán
Mazatlán is located on Mexico’s Pacific Coast at the foot of the Sierra Madre Mountains. As Mexico’s second largest coastal city, Mazatlán has nearly 600,000 inhabitants.
