Don't miss 'An Evening with Ellen Langer' - a Charity Event to benefit the SPCA de PV and Purr Project - at Puerto Vallarta's Boutique Theatre on January 19th at 7 pm.
On Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 7:00 pm, The Boutique Theatre will present 'An Evening with Ellen Langer' - a Charity Event to benefit two Puerto Vallarta non-profit organizations that support animal rights: the SPCA de PV and Purr Project, a no-kill shelter for cats and kittens.

Ellen, a well known Harvard psychologist and writer, will show and discuss 2 episodes of the BBC production, based on her book, Counterclockwise: Mindful Health and the Power of Possibility.

Dr. Langer is a full professor in the Psychology Department at Harvard University. In addition to her two best selling trade books, Mindfulness and The Power of Mindful Learning, Ellen has described her work on mindfulness, the illusion of control, decision making, and aging in over 200 research articles and 12 books.

Her book, On Becoming an Artist: reinventing yourself through mindful creativity, brings together her three lives, researcher, artist and author. Her most recent book, Counterclockwise: Mindful Health and the Power of Possibility is the basis of an upcoming film about her life and research with Jennifer Aniston starring as Ellen. It is also the basis of the BBC series with Ellen playing herself.

Ellen Langer's work has led to numerous academic honors including the following: Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest Award from the American Psychological Association; Distinguished Contributions of Basic Science to Applied Psychology from the American Psychological Society; Adult Development and Aging Distinguished Research Achievement Award from the American Psychological Association; and a Guggenheim Fellowship.

Tickets to the January 19th SPCA de PV / Purr Project charity event: "An Evening with Ellen Langer" cost just $350 Pesos or $35 USD per person. Email Nicole.martin(at)prurealtypv.com to get yours TODAY!

The Boutique Theatre is located at Manuel M. Dieguez #321 on the south side of Puerto Vallarta. For more information call 044-322-728-6878.

Purr Project is a Non-Profit shelter in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico that provides homeless cats and kittens a recuperative stay with the ultimate goal to adopt them out to loving homes. All of our residents have been sterilized, vaccinated and are disease free. We accomplish this through our own efforts as well as collaboratively with other animal welfare organizations. Both monetary donations as well as donations of dry cat food are most welcome – and much appreciated. For more information, visit PurrProject.com.
The mission of SPCA de PV is to help fund and promote sterilization, adoption and healthcare efforts for companion animals in the Puerto Vallarta area, with the goal of eliminating the euthanasia of healthy and adoptable animals. Monies raised will support these various goals in ways that are most feasible within the community. For more information, visit spcapv.com.
