Located in the center of the Bay of Banderas, one of the largest natural bays in the world, downtown Puerto Vallarta is the site of the original fishing village that turned into a world-renowned tourist destination. This part of town has a unique charm and character of its own. In the town square you will find the Palacio Municipal (City Hall) and the Cathedral Guadalupe, which is Puerto Vallarta's most famous landmark.

A mile-long boardwalk known as the "Malecon" runs along the downtown oceanfront street, Paseo Diaz Ordas, where you will find shops, restaurants and night clubs facing the ocean. Our downtown Puerto Vallarta street map will help you find the many art galleries, specialty stores, traditional marketplaces and dining establishments that are just behind the Malecon, and often overlooked.
