Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Vallarta's firefighters and lifeguards are getting ready to turn up the heat as the 2014 Heroes Calendar gears up to launch in early October.
Two dozen local firefighters and lifeguards posed for the calendar, which isn't just about hunky bods, but serves as a reminder that we need to appreciate the real heroes - firefighters and emergency workers - who are busy saving lives and property 24-7.
The 14-month calendar will sell for $200 pesos and is a great way to support the Puerto Vallarta Bomberos and raise much-needed funds for ongoing training and community education programs.
"Our hope is to sell out and raise $200,000 pesos - nearly $20,000 USD - and show the community that our firefighters and lifeguards are truly committed to helping others," said a member of the fundraiser's organizing committee.
Sponsors for the 2014 calendar include Andales on the Bay, Apaches, Banderas News, Bert & Cindy Ramirez, Bravo's, Casa Isabel, Chuck Mallery & Wally Demary Jr., Diana's Tours, Encuentros, JB's on Olas Altas, Marcelo Mico, Margaret Souder & Mickey Adams, PVRPV, Rich Kaufman, Royal-Albion Property Management, Salud Super Food, and Timothy Real Estate Group.
The calendar production team includes Josef Kandoll Wepplo (photography), John McCloud (copywriting), John Stewart (graphic design), Alex Daoud (makeup and hair) and Dora Robles (translation). Gary Green and Tim Longpre are once again overseeing the project.
