Ileana and Sofia Ceja, two teenaged girls from Southern California, experienced the thrill of zipping through the treetops and interacting with exotic animals at Canopy Tours de los Veranos on their Puerto Vallarta summer vacation.

Situated in a tropical deciduous, Just thirty minutes south of Puerto Vallarta, Las Juntas de los Veranos is an ecological preserve where you'll find an amazing array of Mexico's indigenous jungle flora and fauna.

Here, you can bring the whole family to enjoy soaring speeds through the treetops, dine at Pancho's Last Resort Restaurant and swim in the Orquidias River. Best of all, the friendly and funny staff helps make this experience a grand one.

Graduate students first utilized zip-lines while collecting data in the jungle to complete their dissertations. These students used the steel ropes, called "Flying Foxes," as a means of transportation to help collect more information faster.

Flying Foxes were first utilized in the Australian outback to deliver food and tools to people working on the other side of gullies and rivers as well as to deliver food and ammunition in several conflicts.

Today, Los Veranos Canopy Tours offers a rushing recreational experience high above the lush jungle. Using a pulley system, zip from mountain to mountain, gradually going higher and faster. Fly across meters of cable to observe views like no other. Whether you call it a zip-line or a flying fox, you'll enjoy 14 thrilling lines at speeds up to 30 mph.

Before departing this jungle adventure, take advantage of a personal encounter with some of the local wildlife such as tajones, pythons, tarantulas, scorpions as well as the marmoset and squirrel monkeys. Here, you can get right into the cage to feed these amazing animals. This is an experience you won't want to miss.

After spending a fun-filled day at Los Veranos, 13-year-old Sofia, who hopes to someday be a physical therapist, said, "Very few people get a chance to experience this kind of encounter with nature. No matter which activity you choose, or how old you are, a visit to Los Veranos' ecological preserve will make your Puerto Vallarta vacation an exciting adventure!"

While vacationing in Puerto Vallarta, be sure to visit Canopy Tours de los Veranos. These amazing eco tours will not only give you a fuller appreciation of the biodiversity in this beautiful place, but will also give you a fascinating view of paradise.
