Riviera Nayarit, Mexico - After a successful 2008, Riviera Nayarit builds momentum in 2009. Mexico's newest destination has already received new accolades to support this region as a burgeoning "must see" destination. CheapFlights.com has just named it one of its 12 top destinations for 2009, and in late 2008, SmarterTravel.com cited Riviera Nayarit among five destinations to watch for 2009.

Riviera Nayarit stretches along 192 miles of Pacific Coast in the Mexican state of Nayarit, just 10 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta International Airport. Still pristine, the destination focuses on carefully planned luxury development and protecting its abundant nature. A wide range of new resorts, condominiums, golf courses and retail services are underway. The St. Regis Punta Mita and the new Jack Nicklaus championship golf course in Punta Mita have just opened and soon to come in 2009 are Los Veneros, a $126 million dollar resort in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle and Dreams Punta Mita Resort & Spa.

After a triumphant year for the destination, 2008 ended with much to celebrate: SmarterTravel.com announced Riviera Nayarit as a destination to watch in 2009. The article points to the variety of activities available, from cultural tours, to outdoor activities, to the six major golf courses that makes Riviera Nayarit a great place to visit.

"Riviera what?" no more; news is quickly spreading as CheapFlights.com has just selected Riviera Nayarit as one of the top 2009 Travel Destinations. Listed as an "undiscovered" gem, the region is rapidly garnering world-wide attention.

"Riviera Nayarit has undergone incredible growth since its inception over a year ago. We are extremely proud of the region and excited about the strong positive response from visitors and the travel industry alike. There is much more to come and our resorts are offering an array of affordable packages to make Riviera Nayarit even more accessible," said Marc Murphy, Director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau.

About Riviera Nayarit: Mexico's newest destination, Riviera Nayarit, stretches along 192 miles of pristine Pacific coast framed by the majestic Sierra Madre Mountains just ten minutes north of accessible Puerto Vallarta International Airport. The region extends along the entire coast of the Pacific state of Nayarit including the resorts of Nuevo Vallarta, the historic colonial town of San Blas, exclusive Punta Mita, picturesque fishing villages, miles of serene beaches and spectacular Banderas Bay. Riviera Nayarit offers countless activities, all pleasantly affordable, such as: PGA golf courses, luxury spas, whale watching, turtle release, zip lining, surfing, record deep sea fishing, bird watching, international cuisine, and shopping for local artwork and traditional Huichol handicrafts. The region attracts and satisfies vacationers of all tastes and budgets with its wide range of accommodations including chic luxury resorts, eco-tourism boutique hotels and quaint B&B inns.
