Spotlight On Vallarta Spends the Night in Yelapa
email this pageprint this pageemail usSf Productions
April 14, 2010

Spotlight on Vallarta highly recommends Yelapa as a "must visit" while vacationing in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Yelapa is a small Indian village about 45 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta and only accessible by boat. Water taxis are available at the Los Muertos pier in old town and cost $250 pesos round trip. A great time to go is on a Saturday and spend the night at one of the many rentals available and dance the night away at the world famous Yacht Club located just north of the town pier.

The Yacht Club host a dance party every Saturday night and it is your chance to party with many Gringos that live in Yelapa and have got lost in Paradise over the years. Most everyone who lives in Yelapa are extremely friendly and can tell you stories about the way it used to be before electricity, Internet and telephone, which came to Yelapa about 8 years ago.

Yelapa is full of little shops and great restaurants and don't worry about traffic because there are no vehicles in the community. You can walk up to the waterfalls or visit some of the quaint places along the river such as Passion Flower Gardens where you can sharpen your croquet game, and say "hello" to the owner April who can give you some pointers, or stop by The Oasis and chat with owner Cheryl who'll tell you all about the International Croquet tournament they host every March.

Both the Passion Flower Gardens and The Oasis offer accommodations at a very reasonable price as well as small cantina to wet your whistle before making the short climb on the road back to town. Should you choose Yelapa transportation, horses are available to give you a tour of the community or take you to the waterfalls and don't worry they know there way around.

Spotlight on Vallarta highly recommends Yelapa as a "must visit" while vacationing in Puerto Vallarta - and be sure to stay overnight to really feel the energy of this magnificent village.
