Officials of Riviera Nayarit attended the launch of the new route of Alaska Airlines, which will connect Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta with San Diego, California.
Riviera Nayarit presented the advantages of traveling to their destination to 94 travel agents of the San Diego, California region at the opening event of a new route that will connect this American city with the Gustavo Diaz Ordaz Airport.

The event was coordinated by the Mexican Council for the Promotion of Tourism (CPTM by its initials in Spanish), through its office in Los Angeles. The event proved that the joint work being done by Riviera Nayarit, Puerto Vallarta, airlines, and local authorities to promote tourism is essential to attract visitors to Mexico.

Alaska Airlines' new flight is scheduled to fly between November 2010 and April 2011, and will be promoted by all the travel wholesalers in this region, which were represented at the event by Apple Vacations, Sunny Beach Vacations and Vacations 4 Less.

Jeff Etherington, General Sales Manager of Alaska Airlines and Jorge Gamboa Patron, Director of the CPTM Office in Los Angeles, led the presentation. Joining the representation committee of the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) of Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta, several Riviera Nayarit hotels also attended the event, including Paradise Village, Villa del Palmar Flamingos and Villa La Estancia.

A dinner offered to the 94 travel agents was livened up with Mexican music, and several hotel stays were given away at the end of the night, including tickets courtesy of Alaska Airlines.

The marketing efforts being made by the Riviera Nayarit's OCV are possible because of the strong impulse that Nayarit's Governor Ney Gonzalez has given to tourism by considering it a key element to improve the economy of Nayarit, and also due to a close collaboration with the Tourism Secretariat (SECTUR) and the Federal Government, both brilliantly led by Gloria Guevara Manzo.
