Jesse Steiner (RivieraNayarit.com)
Jesse Steiner is better known as 'El Transcontinentalista' because of his long trek in crossing the American continent from Montreal, Canada, by bicycle. Jesse recently visited the Riviera Nayarit area and says that the experience was delightful.

"Since my last blog entry, I spent most of the time enjoying the beaches of the Pacific coast. I found a nice village in Acaponeta and then decided to spend the night in a small hotel to celebrate completion of the first seven months of travel. Also, in Acaponeta, I discovered the first Mexican beer which I completely enjoyed" recounts Steiner on his blog (www.jessesteiner.com)

For 'El Transcontinentalista', the magic of San Blas was spectacular. Upon arriving in the morning and getting his first impression of the area, he decided to spend the full day getting to know the historical port and surfing. The atmosphere caught him and he stayed two nights camping in the surrounding area. He only had one complaint - the surfboard which he rented had not been waxed.

Steiner returned to the road after 48 hours of fun and relaxation. His next stop was Jaltemba Peñita. He chose to spend the night there because it was a village of fishermen and the beautiful sea shore. The kindness of its people surprised him.

"There were so many people on the beach that I waited until sunset to unroll my sleeping bag. When I woke up the next day, there were already people walking their dogs. In the United States, the people that I had met when sleeping on the beach avoided eye contact, but here, everyone greeted me with a smile and the traditional 'good morning'. I never felt out of place" he recounts.

Jesse was also surprised when people stopped on the road to invite him to their homes for a meal or to ask for a quick interview for local media. He enjoyed the lifestyle, surfing in Sayulita, and enjoying the best sunsets of the Mexican Pacific.

'El Transcontinentalista' has moved on and left Riviera Nayarit behind, but has gone with great memories and renewed enthusiasm to follow his journey towards Argentina, "Although this is not my life's goal, but only my current goal, I will travel by bike until reaching Argentina, or tiring, or running out of money", he concludes.
