XVIII Puerto Vallarta Int'l Sports Classic

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Offering a fun-filled weekend of sports for all ages, the Puerto Vallarta Int'l Sports Classic will be returning to Puerto Vallarta from May 6-8, 2011. Now in its 18th year, this year's Sports Classic, presented by the Canada One Foundation, will include over 1500 participants competing in three sporting events.

Based at the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort and Convention Center, events will be held at the Municipal Sports Stadium and various local sports venues. All competitive events are open to the public without charge while spectator seating lasts.

Basketball:
Former and current NBA players as well as major league players and local teams will participate at the Agustín Flores Contreras Municipal Gymnasium, directly across from the Sheraton. Games will be played on Friday and Saturday, starting at 8 am.

This year there will also be Youth Division games for girls and boys 12-13 years of age starting at 4 pm on Friday and at 10:30 am on Saturday. For more information, contact Sr. Carlos Efraín Yerena at ceyerena(at)yahoo.com.mx or Howard Kelsey at hifive(at)ca.inter.net.

Copa Vallarta Youth Soccer:
120 juvenile soccer teams with players from 6 year old and up will compete daily on the Municipal Stadium, La Bobadilla, Curiel, Juntas, Alfredo´s, Ixtapa, Flamingos Reisential Club soccer fields. For more information, contact Sr. Armando Cosilión at copavallarta(at)vallartadeportes.com.

Bowling:
Players in various categories will bowl on Saturday starting at 2 pm on the Collage Club Bowling Lanes. For more information, contact Sr. Jorge Batíz at jorgebatiz(at)hotmail.com.

More than 1500 athletes are expected to participate, including National teams and professional athletes, along with Banderas Bay area school children and sports enthusiasts. But the most important participants are the people of Puerto Vallarta. Admission is free to all sporting events - and everyone is invited to come join in the fun.

Competitions and activities are open to sports teams and individual athletes of all ages and skill levels - from professional to recreational. You can bring your own team or be added to one by the organizers, who'll place you according to competence.
