November 23, 2011
Mexico's 1st National Charro Championship will take place January 26-30, 2012 at the new Arena Vallarta being constructed in the El Colorado neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - After the National Charro Congress, which took place in Puebla earlier this month, 1st organizing committee president Sr. Alfonso Bernal and Raúl Díaz organized an informative session to convey all of the details regarding the 1st National Charro Championships, which will take place in Puerto Vallarta from January 26-30, 2012.

This event will bring 24 of Mexico's best Charro associations to Vallarta. Tres Potrillos, Hacienda Tamariz (2010 Champions), Rancho La Biznaga, Tres Regalos, Dorados de Oaxtepec, Tequila Hacienda Vieja, Ganadera Santa Isabel, El Relicario, Tequila Don Roberto, Rancho El Olivo, Rancho Agua Santa, Rancho Nuevo de Tepa, Perla del Pacífico, Rancho El Pitayo, Rancho El Jaralito and Camino Real de Colima, among others, will be participating in this National Tournament.

Jalisco and Nayarit will be represented with regional teams like Puente de Camotlán, Rancho El Quevedeño, Rancho Las Cuatas, Hacienda Santa Cruz del Valle and El Festejo. Also "escaramusas" (female Charros) from all the country will be participating in this event.

Arena Vallarta is being built on 10 acres of land in "El Colorado." According to the plans, it should be finished this December. The handicap accessible arena will have room for 5 thousand spectators, public rest rooms, a 600 car parking lot, a commercial area and stables for the horses.

It is now clear that Puerto Vallarta will soon have top of the line facilities for the development of Charrería as a professional sport as well as ultra-modern installations for those who are interested in attending not only the National Championships but also future Charro events.

The prizes for the National Championship are very attractive, so horses and cattle will be brought in from northern Mexico and the teams will do their best to win the tournament.

Prizes
First Place - $260 thousand pesos
Second Place - $160 thousand pesos
Third Place - $100 thousand pesos

Mexican Charro Association Press Secretary Ing. Abraham García attended this informative meeting as well as Abel Díaz Tapia, the director of DeCharros.com, which will be celebrating its 9th anniversary in Puerto Vallarta.

Abel Díaz announced that the anniversary is going to take place on Monday, January 30th, one day after the tournament finishes, with a rodeo show performed by La Nacional de Charros, local team Hacienda Serena and DeCharros.com, integrated by several journalists who specialize in this sport.

At the end of the show another special presentation will take place, a hundred of the best Charros performing several dangerous tricks and acrobatics; prizes will be given to the best performers.

The invitation has been made and everyone is now waiting for the big day to arrive at the new Arena Vallarta, which will become the newest venue for various kinds of events in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico.
