Kitesurfers from all over Mexico are getting ready to compete in the upcoming Wind Festival 2012, which will take place in Bucerķas, Nayarit from May 18-20, 2012.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Kitesurfers from all over Mexico are ready to hit the beaches of Riviera Nayarit as they prepare for three days of spectacular kitesurfing during the 2012 Wind Festival.

With competitions in four categories scheduled to take place on the waters between Bucerķas and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle from May 18-20th, Wind Fest has been growing in popularity and participants over the past few years.

Kitesurfing is a dynamic, young, athletic, and appealing sport. Riders mount a surfboard that is powered by a kite, a combination that allows athletes to attain high speeds on the water and make spectacular leaps.

Offering favorable wind and surf conditions, three world-class marinas, technicians ready to take care of the specialized equipment this sport demands, first-class hotels and touristic services, and amazing natural settings, Riviera Nayarit is quickly becoming the preferred destination for lovers of this sport.

The Wind Festival has been taking place in the Banderas Bay area for the last few years, and, last year, it was covered by the HBO TV network as part of their Destino Deporte show. This year, there will be competitions in four categories: Open Freestyle, Freestyle Pro, Women Freestyle, a downwind race from La Cruz to Bucerķas and a long-distance race from Bucerķas to La Cruz and back again.

Registration for competitors is still open, and the public is invited to watch the events from the beaches of Bucerķas - free of charge. For more information or to register for competitions, please visit the Wind Festival 2012 page on Facebook.

Watching all the kites go out at the same time offers a very bright and colorful show during the race, and watching the freestyle competitors' stunts is simply amazing - making Wind Festival 2012 an experience not to be missed.
