The memorandum signed by Tourism Secretary Gloria Guevara Manzo and Haiti’s Ambassador to Mexico Guy G. Lamothe is intended to strengthen cooperation in the tourism industry between the two countries.

Quintana Roo, Mexico - Tourism Secretary Gloria Guevara Manzo and Haiti’s Ambassador to Mexico Guy G. Lamothe signed a memorandum of understanding, through which both countries hope to strengthen cooperation in the tourism industry.

While signing the agreement last week, Guevara Manzo said that this memorandum is important for promoting economic development in both countries.

She said that the objectives of the memorandum include designing initiatives that promote tourism, improving the image of both countries, increasing participation in tourism fairs and conferences, and exchanging industry information, all with the goal of increasing tourism to Haiti and Mexico.

The document serves as a precedent for the creation of training programs for students in the tourism industry. In particular, the two countries are seeking to encourage films geared toward promoting tourist destinations in both countries.

Lamothe said that he appreciated the support of Mexican authorities. He added that this alliance will allow the two countries to develop attractive and sustainable tourism projects. He said that Haiti has a lot of tourism potential, which, if realized, would attract investment and create jobs that would benefit the Haitian people.

The signing of the memorandum was a result of a recent meeting between the tourism secretary and Haiti Tourism Secretary Stéphanie B. Villedrouin in Cancun, Quintana Roo.
