Greg Norman May Soon Return to Riviera Nayarit

August 31, 2012

Riviera Nayarit's Litibú Golf Course is planning a re-opening tournament with the attendance of acclaimed golfer Greg Norman, who designed the Mexican Golf Federation endorsed course.

Riviera Nayarit, Mexico - In Riviera Nayarit luxury is our nature, and this nature is the backdrop for the seven golf courses in our destination that have been endorsed by the Mexican Golf Federation. These have attracted the world's most important course designers, including Greg Norman, who may soon return for the re-opening tournament of the Litibú golf course.

Christophe Guiraud, course manager, started spreading the big news on August 23 after welcoming Danny Fore, an associate designer of Norman's design firm, who visited the Litibú course to evaluate the possibility of organizing this tournament.

Fore analyzed the conditions of the course, and rated it as excellent. "Fore was pleased with the course and reiterated his interest in having the tournament, so at this point we're expecting confirmation from Greg Norman's team, so we can make the official announcement," said Guiraud.

The Litibú golf course is managed by Fonatur and is open to the public. Guiraud said that the green fee is still offered at a 50% discount, which means that anyone can play this course for $700 pesos.

Few activities compare to the joy of practicing your swing at any of the amazing golf courses in Riviera Nayarit, which has been positioned as the best golf destination in Mexico and a favorite among golfers from around the world. The key to its success has been the combination of the courses' stunning tropical backdrops and innovative designs by acclaimed professionals like Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Jim Lipe, Robert Von Hagge & Baril, and Percy Clifford.

"When one thinks of golf in Mexico, one may think of other destinations that have been promoting this sport for a longer time, but we believe that Riviera Nayarit is the up-and-coming golf destination in the world," the Executive Vice President of Jack Nicklaus Academy, Ted Simons, said recently.
