78 Boats Confirmed for La Cruz Fishing Tournament

October 9, 2012

Riviera Nayarit will play host to more than 400 passionate fans of sports fishing who will participate in the First International Fishing Tournament at La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.

La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Mexico - Riviera Nayarit will break a new record this year with the confirmed participation of at least 78 vessels in the International Sports Fishing Tournament of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, scheduled to take place October 10-14, 2012.

According to the Tepic Sports Fishing Club, the organizers of the event, this is the second fishing tournament the club has organized this year - and it's started out on the right foot.

"In the San Blas tournament we had 60 participating vessels and it was a record number, the highest in the 52 years since it was created. We've promised to recreate the same ambiance of fellowship and fiesta in the La Cruz Tournament, and we have already recorded 78 team's confirmed participation. I think the experience speaks for itself because many of them registered in the 'Pre-Inscription' stage. We now have good expectations to reach our goal of 100 participating teams," says Francisco Navarrete Buhaya, the coordinator of Fishing Tournaments in Riviera Nayarit.

These 78 vessels represent 312 individual fishermen - 4 on each team - plus their family members and friends. These fans will travel from the United States, Acapulco, Monterrey, Manzanillo, Barra de Navidad, and San Blas to participate; of course there will be competitors from Puerto Vallarta and La Cruz as well. During their stay in La Cruz, they will bring a positive economic impact to the entire state of Nayarit.

Riviera Nayarit, which is also known as "Mexico's Pacific Treasure," has some of the most attractive features to offer fishing fans: Tuna, mahi mahi, sailfish and Marlin, can be found here year round. This, together with the regions comfortable climate, guarantees a memorable fishing experience for all ages and experience levels.
