Second Annual Punta Mita Beach Festival a Success

Kenny Broad, Scott Chandler, Jessica Cichra, Jose Pavlo Minor and Javier Alvarez were among the notable personalities and experts from various backgrounds that participated in the three-day festival.

Punta Mita, Mexico - Located within Mexico's most exclusive beach community along the shores of the hip and happening Riviera Nayarit, The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, in conjunction with Punta Mita Expeditions, the Riviera Nayarit CVB and Punta Mita Resorts, is pleased to celebrate the success of the second annual Punta Mita Beach Festival.

As part of the three-day event, held July 17-20, 2014 at the renowned beach resort, the celebratory summer festival offered a fun-filled weekend that was attended by 120 guests, with activities ranging from surfing, snorkeling, stand-up paddle and yoga, to sand castle-building for the kids and exceptional culinary offerings by prestigious international chefs.

"This year's Punta Mita Beach Festival welcomed new and returning families to a festive weekend that is quickly becoming an annual tradition for many guests," said Carl Emberson, general manager of The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort. "Ideal for guests of all ages, the Beach Festival combines exhilarating activities led by prominent experts in surf, SUP, and yoga with superb cuisine by internationally-acclaimed chefs, all taking place with a backdrop of one of the world's most breathtaking coastal locations."


The second annual event kicked-off on Thursday, July 17 with an opening cocktail featuring exquisite gourmet cuisine by renowned guest chefs Thierry Blouet, Tomas Bermudez, Franco Rivadeneyra, and The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort's Executive Chef Sylvain Desbois, complemented by savory cocktails, artisanal mezcal, Latin American wines, a selection of tequilas by Patron Tequila, and live entertainment from DJ Mauricio Lemus.

The three-day extravaganza began with an invigorating morning of surfing, stand up paddle, and yoga followed by a delectable awards luncheon prepared by St. Regis' Chef Tomas Bermudez, who presented guests the Chef's Dozen Oyster Bar & Grill at the Mita Mary Boat Bistro on Sea Breeze Beach alongside Patron Margaritas.

On Friday night, The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort served guests authentic Peruvian cuisine on the tranquil Sea Breeze Beach, where guest chef Franco Rivadeneyra prepared an exotic dinner based on the most innovative trends and flavors of Peruvian food accompanied by innovative cocktails by Ciroc and the tunes of DJ Lemus.

On Saturday, Thierry Blouet, guest chef and owner of Cafe des Artistes in Puerto Vallarta, prepared exquisite French Mexican cuisine for lunch at the Mita Mary Boat Bistro. To conclude the exceptional weekend, The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort hosted a celebratory beachfront conference by National Geographic Explorer, Dr. Kenny Broad, followed by a farewell dinner at Sea Breeze Beach by Chef Sylvain Desbois accompanied with Ciroc cocktails prepared by mixologist Ricardo Nava Mendoza, winner of the World Class Mexico contest, mixed to the tunes of local reggae group, Los Locos Mezcales.

To top off the three-day beach event, guests savored their last morning in paradise with a Farewell Brunch at Sea Breeze Restaurant and a final dip in the Pacific Ocean.


Several notable personalities and experts from various backgrounds participated in the three-day festival, including Dr. Kenny Broad, the 2011 National Geographic Explorer of the Year, who guided diving and snorkeling excursions around the caves of Las Marietas Islands National Park. Ana Paula Dominguez, one of the most recognized yogis in Mexico and an Adidas Ambassador, taught beach yoga and family yoga at Arecas Pool, while paddle board yoga instructor Jessica Cichra led SUP yoga lessons on the tranquil waters of Punta Mita.

Beginners looking to surf the best waves in the bay participated in surfing clinics led by Mexican stand up paddle professional Javier Alvarez and Scott Chandler, one of the US' most recognized surfers.

This year, more than 60 participants competed in the annual 1, 2, and 5km stand up paddle races, including Javier Jimenez, member of the Mexico National Men's Stand Up Paddle Team. Winners of the SUP challenges received prizes from Vilebrequin, Tommy Hilfiger, LabSeries, Dakine, GoPro, Mafia Bags, Punta Mita Resorts, Patron Tequila & Mezcal Montelobos.
