go to original
December 4, 2014

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - From December 4-7th, Puerto Vallarta will welcome athletes from all over Mexico, who will gather at the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort for the first edition of the "Vallarta Open 2014" professional tennis tournament.

Twenty-four players have already been confirmed for the draw, which will have 12 directives (4 cards with 8 qualifiers) in accordance with the Asociación Mexicana de Tenistas Profesionales' (Mexican Association of Tennis Professionals) ranking system. In the Men's Singles competition, players will vie for a $30,000 pesos prize.

"It is very important for our destination to host events where professional players from around the country can participate with Vallarta parents and children. We are hoping to make this an annual event to encourage the growth of the sport," said Jorge Lozano, the Director of the tournament.

The Canto del Sol Tennis Club will host the Parents and Children tennis tournament, which will consist of four groups of four couples in a Round Robin system played in an open and amateur fashion. This tournament gives local amateurs the opportunity to play with professionals.

The registration fee for both tournaments is $400 pesos and is available at the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort Tennis Club and at the Asociación de Tenis de Jalisco (Jalisco Tennis Association) office in Guadalajara.

Several other events will be held over the 4 days, including a tennis clinic, taught by Jorge Lozano, which will be open to children and adults.
