Riviera Nayarit, Mexico - In keeping with tradition, the Riviera Nayarit will celebrate World Tourism Day by hosting the Annual Athletic Race at the Maestro Flamingos Condominium.

Organized by the Hotel Samba Vallarta by Emporio Hotels & Suites and Grupo Diestra, together with the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau, the 3rd Annual Carrera Atlética 5k run/ 3k walk will be held on September 26, 2015 at the Maestro Flamingos Condominiums. The race traditionally starts at 7:00 am.

The competition brings together employees from several different Riviera Nayarit hotels, who make up the majority of the participants, but regional sports groups and, more importantly, tourists who are in the destination that day are welcome to participate.

Embracing the slogan "together for our health," with which this friendly competition began in 2013 to promote health and sports, registration is free and open to the public.

Thanks to the success of the first race, which included the participation of more than 100 runners; and the second, which welcomed 410 runners; this year, over 500 runners are expected to participate in the 5k race / 3k walk.

There are four categories for the 5K Run: Female Contributors, Female Open, Male Contributors and Male Open. The 3K Walk will be a mix of contributors and the public.

Hydration will be provided for the runners during the race and snacks will be available after the competition; there will be an awards breakfast with prizes in kind for the winners.

The municipal authorities will be lending their support to ensure the event takes place with the safety it requires.
