November 5, 2015

Over 300 competitors and participants are expected to compete in the following categories: a 112 km Bike Race; 20, 40 and 70 km Mountain Bike Races; a BMX Exhibit; plus City and Mountain Tours.

Rincón de Guayabitos, Nayarit, Mexico - The 2nd Guayabitos Riviera Nayarit Bike Fest 2015 will take place on the beach at Rincón de Guayabitos, with over 300 cyclists from different areas of the country. This event has the garnered the support of the Groups department of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau thanks to its sports, social and environmental value.

The City Tour begins on Friday, November 6th, once the festival is inaugurated. The toughest competitions will take place on Saturday, November 7th, meaning the 112 km Bike Race and the 20, 40 and 70 km Mountain Bike Races, as well as the BMX Exhibit and the TRIAL. The last event will be the Mountain Tour on Sunday, November 8th.

The 112 km Bike Race will descend from the Cerro San Juan in Tepic to Santa Cruz de Miramar and from there will continue along the hills and valleys that skirt the shore all the way to Rincón de Guayabitos. There will be a 22 km race against the clock on the lower end of the route in order to set a yearly record.

The Mountain Bike Race will take place in the Sierra de Vallejo. The Elite Category will cover 70 km at an accumulated altitude of 1,500m and difficult trails. The Intermediate Category covers 40 km at an accumulated altitude of 700m and less complicated trails.

The BMX Exhibit will be the most surprising event for the spectators, because they'll be able to witness the leaps and pirouettes that make up the BMX and TRIAL tricks set against the sunset on the beach.

The City Tour is not exactly a competition: riders can use any kind of bicycle as the objective is to promote their use as well as highlight the need for respect between cyclists, automobile drivers and pedestrians.

This tour will take place in the late afternoon along the streets of Guayabitos and La Peñita until they reach the beach to enjoy the sunset, followed by a movie. As there are a good number of riders expected, there will be a turtle release event as well as family entertainment with music, food and plenty of fun.
