Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Four-hundred participants are preparing for the Third Riviera Nayarit Mountain Bike Race, an intense, one-of-a-kind biking competition in Mexico that combines beach tracks and mountain trails.
The 6 kilometer race, which is part of the Jalisco Mountain Biking League (LIJACIM) series, is open to riders from 4 to 59 years of age. Racing will start at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 28 from the beach in Litibú-Higuera Blanca.
"There's no other competition in this country that serves up a combination of beach and mountain," said Belín Villasante, part of the organizing committee. "We already have registrations confirmed from Colima, Jalisco, Nayarit and other states from central and western Mexico."
The First Group - considered to be the toughest - includes 13 categories for both male and female riders ages 18 to 59, there are 14 categories for riders 15 and up in the Second Group, and four Youth Categories, which includes kids ages 4-12. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.
Enrollment fees range from $170 to $360 Pesos, depending on the category. Registration fees include race numbers hydration and catering. There will be no registrations on the day of the competition; please enroll in person at the Velo Bike shop, Plaza Neptuno Local B1-B2, Blvd. Francisco Medina Ascencio km 7.5, Marina Vallarta.
