New Vallarta Historic Tour for Wheelchair Travelers

November 11, 2016

Sandra Cesca, who has been conducting Puerto Vallarta Walking Tours for the past 7 years, wants to give rollers the same opportunity to get immersed into the local culture as her walking clients have enjoyed.

Puerto Vallarta's accessible Malecón is now the site for historic walking tours for wheelchair travelers. This tour, offered by Puerto Vallarta Walking Tours (Learn Vallarta), is a first for this popular tourist destination.

Owner Sandra Cesca, who has been conducting walking tours throughout various neighborhoods of Vallarta for the past seven years, wants to give rollers the same opportunity to get immersed into the local culture as her walking clients have enjoyed doing for years. The flat Malecón, which follows along the shore of Banderas Bay, is ideal for those with mobility limitations.

As you roll along, you will learn about the history of Vallarta from its beginnings during the silver boom of the 1850's to the present; architecture of the Spanish colonial period; artists' inspirations behind the many bronze sculptures; folk art of the local Huichol indigenous people; stories of the characters who helped build this town including the famous Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton years during the filming of the Night of the Iguana in 1965; and finally, information on Mexican cuisine and the accessible restaurants along the way.

This is normally a two hour walk, but can be adjusted for wheelchair travelers. Offered Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays beginning at 2:00 pm, the price of this tour is $35 USD per person. Reservations are required 48 hours in advance. For more details and online reservations, visit puertovallartawalkingtours.com.

Sandra is a local resident, author, and photographer and has been conducting informative and fun walking tours around greater Vallarta for 7 years. She keeps her groups small for a more personal immersion experience. You won't be disappointed. See her excellent reviews on Trip Advisor under Puerto Vallarta Walking Tours.

This new walk has been created by Sandra with the help of Terrie Gaughan, owner of Beach Crossers Mobility Rentals, a local company focused on assisting those with mobility issues through their available choices of equipment rentals, ramps, wheelchair vans, and other related services.
