The first Regional Tournament for Invitational Volleyball will bring together teams from Zapotlanejo, Guadalajara and Tepic, in addition to locals, at the Agustín Flores Contreras Municipal Sports Stadium.

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - Last weekend's VII Festival of Basketball kicked off a series of sporting events scheduled to take place in Puerto Vallarta through the end of May and into June.

The director of the Municipal Sports Council (COMUDE), José Amador Hernández Madrigal, reported that the weekend's VII Festival of Basketball, held at the Agustín Flores Contreras sports auditorium May 12-14 with children, youth and veteran teams competing, was just the beginning of the sporting activities set to take place over the rest of the month.

From May 26 to 28, a basketball referee training course will be held in the same sports unit, with the purpose of further raising the level of competitions held in our city.

On Saturday, May 27, the Copa Aguas Abiertas, a qualifying competition for the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championship (CCAN) and the 2017 World Championship in Budapest, will be held in the waters off of the Malecón in downtown Puerto Vallarta.

On Saturday the 27th and Sunday the 28th, the Agustín Flores Contreras Municipal sports stadium will welcome the first Regional Tournament for Invitational Volleyball, which will bring together teams from Zapotlanejo, Guadalajara and Tepic, in addition to the locals.

On Sunday, May 28, the Oxxo COMUDE Athletic Race, which is a walk and recreational race to promote exercise, will take place along the Vía Recreactiva.

Finally, on Wednesday, May 31, the Municipal Sports Stadium will host the National University Club soccer tryouts. After the excellent results they have had in previous auditions, they return to Puerto Vallarta in search of local talents to form another First Division team. The tryouts continue on June 1st and 2nd and everyone is invited to come and watch for free.
