go to original
July 26, 2019

Under the orders of coach Romulo Quirarte, Chavez Jr. has been preparing for the Aug 10 fight for more than 3 months. The boxer says he's fully motivated to give it everything he's got with one final run.

Update: The expected comeback fight of former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. now has a venue. The contest will be based at the Premier Diamond Salon in San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco, thanks to the efforts of the director of Mega Events, Héctor Garcia, and the Government of Jalisco.

Tijuana, Mexico - The son of a legend, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., will return to the ring after more than two years of inactivity on August 10. The expected return could land at Puerto Vallarta, Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco or the Tijuana border. What is confirmed is that his opponent will be Colombia's Evert Bravo, and the event will be televised by Azteca 7.

Chavez Jr. (50-3-1, 32 KO's), former WBC middleweight world champion, will fight at super middleweight, and will return to the ring for the first time since his loss to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, in May 2017 in Las Vegas - which took place at a catch-weight of 164.5 pounds.

His opponent, Evert Bravo (25-10-1, 19 KO's), is a fighter with a lot of experience, 34 years old, and physically measures up to Chavez Jr.

He's had fights against Sean Monaghan, Junior Younan and Alfredo Angulo, and Roamer Alexis Angulo.

Chavez Jr. has had an intense preparation of more than three months in Tijuana, under the orders of coach Romulo Quirarte, and the boxer says he is fully motivated to give everything of himself with one final run. The details of the fight, and the event, will be soon announced by Zanfer promotions.

Also on the card, the reappearance of former world champion, Jose "Bolivita" Uzcategui. And seeing them on the same card could be a build towards a future bout.
